Thanks for starting this! If you waited for me to do so, it would never happen because I am a disorganized mess right now, haha!

I LOVE this idea! Where shall we start? Something older, something new? (Something borrowed, something blue? Lol)

Is it just 3 of us interested, then? I was hoping for more so we'd have fuller discussions. Of course, people might jump in at some random point in time. I think gingerale would like this sort of thread but fear she won't be back until Benedict grows out his curls! Anyone care to make the initial suggestion? I'm thinking Sherlock is an easy place to start, but the floor is open... I think Sherlock is fine to start with, if that is what you prefer. I was going to suggest the Van Gogh movie, since we can then also watch the BBC thing Sgev just posted, but I am not sure everyone has easy access. We could also listen to Cabin Pressure or Casanova. ETA: Wanders off and looks at all the articles and reviews I have bookmarked for just about every production that BC has done over the last 15 years and laughs and laughs and laughs. Then I think about how chatty I am and then maybe I don't have to worry about writing too many thesises (what is the pural of thesis, anyway)? Maybe? LOL. If you thought I wrote too much about TPOTD, well, just you wait.

I am interested! I just can’t think of something to suggest for us to begin. I will watch or listen to anything and talk about it!

I would be I interested in participating too, but I just have been a bit busy with other stuff, so I just now got around to reading a few of the initial posts in this thread.
Plus it's summer, so I tend not to be inside glued to my phone so much.
I've got most of his early works on DVD or have seen them on YouTube. I also have the entire set of Cabin Pressure on CD. The only things I haven't see are the fantasy productions (Lord of the Rings/Hobbit) and animated work (Penguins of Madagascar and Grinch). I've seen Frankenstein and Hamlet a number of times but I don't know if they are accessible to rewatch ATM.
I don't have a preference as to which works we start with first. But I would hope we include The Hollow Crown and Patrick Melrose as well as Sherlock.
Just as a note, I see that there are some copies of TPOTD on DVD for sale on Amazon for around $100 CDN. They are FYC (For Your Consideration) copies that were sent out to Academy members.

I’m very interested in Wreckers, too. Every time I watch it and depending on my mood I think different things about David and his (nefarious?) motivations.

And The Child in Time for me as well. It's a great piece of work by him that really didn't get the attention it deserved. I have rewatched that one numerous times.

Another one I'd like to discuss is To the Ends of the Earth. Any writing by WG is worthy of a chat about it and BC was magnificent in that role! He was so young and yet carried the production on his back even after that harrowing experience with the hijacking!

Oh, I *love* TTEOTE! He’s so young and boyish, and BC is sublime in portraying him. What a great crafting of a character! Even at his young age he understands the deep and varied nature of the human experience and demonstrates that in all of Edmund’s arrogant, naive, and silly behaviors. Plus, one of the few times we get to see him fall deeply (and ridiculously), in love. 😍
And of course WG’s juxtaposition of human savagery against the veneer of civilization is perfection and very like the rest of his work.

Is it just 3 of us interested, then? I was hoping for more so we'd have fuller discussions. Of course, people might jump in at some random point in time.... Checks time stamps … hmm … not trying to be disagreeable, but it looks like this thread was just started a couple of days ago in a forum with people all over the world with maybe lots of other stuff going on in their lives, so it’s possible people might be interested but either haven’t checked the forum yet, haven’t had a chance to focus and post, etc. That may also be something to consider when thinking about the pace of the rewatches? Not that it has to be dragged out super slow, but just done with the understanding people have other stuff on. It’s probably the same thing that comes up in book clubs and rewatches and group texts everywhere… what’s the right pace, expectation of timing, posting frequency. ETA not saying the pace needs to be slowed down for me and other less frequent posters. Just that people shouldn’t feel like no one’s interested just because it takes a while for people to chime in, and people check the forum, post at different frequencies (I’m probably one of the least active… been around for years and am still far away from God status 😂) I think I’m likely just grumpy because I’ve had a super busy week at work, in prep for a holiday weekend and lots of people being out next week. We usually are supposed to leave early the Friday before a long weekend… and I got slammed with a bunch of stuff today, and am closing out our June financials, prepping for a new employee starting the day we’re back, and Every.Single.Person in the entire company has left, while I still have piles of stuff to get through (and my boss as he was leaving “joked” that uh-oh you better get to it otherwise you’ll have to log in and work tomorrow.) So I popped on here to clear my head and think of something fun for 5 minutes before diving back in to it, and felt like “here is one more thing I’m behind on, can’t keep up with while other people are able to.” So, never mind me. You guys are great, carry on! I’ll pop back when I can 😊. A rewatch is a great idea!
