I saw this tweet and one of the replies posted this list as an argument why Cgris Evans was a bigger star than Ryan Gosling.
Look who's in number 9.

This one was published a few days ago, it’s supposedly only about the films in which they are the star and in it Tom Cruise, for example, is 8 meanwhile BC is 27. He is still there! www.ticketsource.us/blog/hollywoods-most-profitable(Samuel L Jackson never plays the lead so I’m guessing they are talking about relevant roles but in that case it’s interesting how different are those two lists!) EDITED They also took the info from The Numbers but again only what they considered lead roles whatever those are!

I’m tickled pink that Stan Lee is at the top, but also somewhat disheartened that there are only 2 women in the top 25.

You won’t find a lot of women on those lists because most of the high-grossing movies are violent action nonsense or goofball comedies. Those movies make a ton of money because there’s very little dialogue to translate into other languages when they’re shown around the world. A friend of mine learned this when she was training to teach English as a Second Language. Their instructor warned them that many non-English speakers know lots of swear words from the American movies they’re exposed to, and so they think that those words are much more commonly used than they really are.
