It would be nice if the haters didn't flood the comment sections but unfortunately they already have started (the Variety article can attest to that happening). They really can't be relied on to act properly so it isn't anything new.
I looked at a couple of things they have started to throw out there and it is the typical hater stuff - Sophie is unable to get any work on her own merit so BC had to make this up for her (or he did it under duress because it is part of the "blackmail/divorce payout" - sigh!). And they have also decided that Megan Hunter is also a talentless hack (because she is married to a brother of the evil Sophie) who doens't write as well as any of the soc-called "skeptics" sp she is riding on Ben's coat tails too! Oh yeah, they have also declared that a producer of a film is someone who does NOTHING but only as it relates to Sophie apparently...🙄
So I expect to escalate if any good news comes along about this film being made. It is in their nature.
But it is their loss. I hope that this project does come to fruition and I have no doubt at all that Ben and Sophie will contribute to it in a most positive way if it does.
It is very exciting times for Mr. And Mrs. Cumberbatch indeed!

I don't know exactly what a producer does, but I think it's a good idea for Sunny March to always have a woman producer involved in their projects. And it's especially essential when it's a movie about a woman! I know that on Sherlock, Sue Vertue is a producer and she has said that they run their ideas past her to get her opinion.
I was watching The Blind Banker yesterday, and I was reminded that Benedict's former girlfriend was in it. So it's true that there's always been some nepotism in his acting career, but that's not a bad thing. They're talented, and that's what matters. I wonder how long it will be before his two little boys are cast in his movies!

Well, we have the Coppolas! I mean I don't doubt Camille helped his son Francis and Francis famously hired his own sister and (infamously) his daughter in The Godfather movies. Then Sofia and Roman are both filmmakers as their father and both have cast their cousin Jason Schwartzman in their movies! And I haven't mentioned yet Nicolas Kim Coppola aka Nicolas Cage!
So I say with a few exceptions (politicians) nepotism is not so bad. Sure people can criticize if some members of the family aren't talented enough to justify the hiring but it's always ridiculous to criticize BEFORE knowing the actual work.

Francis Ford Coppola's father, Carmine, contributed music to almost all of his son's movies and to at least one that he produced. He also made cameo appearances in some of FFC's films.
Accusations of nepotism are absurd on so many levels. For one thing, a producer is more like a partner rather than an employee. It is not unusual or controversial for family members to go into business together. Sophie may actually be one of the owners of Sunny March now. At the very least, I think it's a sign of respect for her that they are willing to commit resources to this project.
Those haters leaving stupid comments at the end of stories that mention Sophie are making absolute fools of themselves. Fortunately, their numbers have dwindled and anyone with any sense probably regards them as pathetic trolls.

I don't see anything wrong with a private company hiring people who are related to the owner. After all, if you get right down to it how many of us would criticise a man who owns a store hiring his wife as a bookeeper? Or a plumber hiring his child to be a helper during a project? As long as they can do the job why should they be excluded because they are related through birth or marriage?
I actually enjoy seeing names of fellow family members in the credits of movies. Movies are highly collaborative endeavors and there is often a feeling of "creative shorthand" that occurs if the team includes people who, through familial ties, are very close.

Well, just look at Sherlock - Steven Moffat's wife Sue Vertue, and isn't Beryl Vertue her mother? Then I lose track of the numbers of friends and relatives cast in roles: Amanda Abbington as Mary, BC's parents as Sherlock's parents, Olivia Poulet in Blind Banker, Mark Gattis' partner as the lawyer in TRF, Moffat's son as young Sherlock in HLV just to name a few. Perhaps it's more common in the UK, acting/producing is like a family business where the industry is smaller. But apparently the haters only bother criticizing when it involves Sophie.

I spy Kriezimam in the comments! I am the "Jennifer" who disputed the assertion that you can call a person by any name you like unless they've earned your respect. Who thinks that way? Roverpup, are you Valma?

LOL! I noticed Kreizimam!
That comment about a person having to earn respect before they have the right to be called by their actual name was very strange. How would you address people - "Hey you", or "that woman next to Mr. _____ "? I'm glad I've never met anyone like that.

I know! So, your name is Mr. Smith, but I'm going to call you Mr. Jones instead, and it's okay because you haven't yet earned my respect? What does her respect have to do with anything?

Well, not a flood yet but someone left this comment on the Guardian's review:
I shall await with interest the tales the skeptics will spin, claiming that Sophie becoming more involved in BC's career must actually mean they're divorcing any day now! BA HA HA!
