Trying to put BC's upcoming projects in order (in my head and for this forum) which will you think is the order?
I search again the casting news that sgev posted some days ago.
According to those news we'll have:
1) The Child in Time - Tv movie - It should be filming - It has the screenplay ready and a director attached
2) Melrose - Tv series - It says is going to be filming this summer - the script is almost ready according to the interview with the screenwriter
3) How to Stop Time - Is it also for Tv or not?
What happened to The War Magician? It had the script ready according to Whitta? Did they decide to start with TV projects?
Also, the free slot in 2018 for Marvel movies is going to be filled apparently by a spin-off of Spider-Man, Venom. So no Doctor Strange 2.
EDIT: Reading the answers to that tweet, perhaps it has nothing to do with Marvel, the MCU, etc.

According to Wikipedia, this film around the character Venom has nothing to do with MCU and is being made by Sony. So I would think it has no impact at all on anything connected to BC being DS in a sequel.
Other than being a competing film in the marketplace - right?
:-))
EDIT: Didn't the press release talk only about "film rights" being purchased by BC (through Sunnymarch)? if that is the case then it would be specifically restricted to film work. If they purchased wider rights it would have said so in the press release I would have thought and it seems that if it were slated to be for TV then the rights would have gone through "Sunnymarch TV" like the Melrose project. It isn't just semantics, these things are usually spelled out quite specifically in the acquisition of rights in the contract.

Yes, it didn't mention SunnyMarch TV but they just bought it. Maybe they didn't decide yet. I was hoping it was for theatres. Re: Melrose I've been reading again the thread and I guess I forgot that there was already a link that said it was going to start filming in July. Also I read that the novels all happen in August?

I'm not certain of the setup myself either, but Sunnymarch TV does seem to have been mentioned as if a separate arm under the same umbrella. So I do think specific references to Sunnymarch and/or Sunnymarch TV are significant. And I think Roverpup above is right in presuming that film rights are likely specific to film, and that it isn't just a question of Sunnymarch choosing what they want to do with the property once they have the rights (unless that was actually a specific part of the deal).
There will be a time limit on the rights, though, I'm presuming. And I don't think it should be discounted that BC and Sunnymarch will be doing what all the other actors do, who are in a similarly fortunate position (and directors too), in that they will likely amass multiple choices for themselves, where there's really no possibility that more than a tiny fraction will actually get produced.
Assuming the reference to casting the TV film was real, and the fact that there's not the same need to announce something as part of the process of attracting finance for TV, I'm supposing that's going into production imminently too. And David Nicholls was the one who effectively confirmed the Melrose production for the "Summer", so that's a safe bet as well. I missed a specific reference to July, though, where was that? BC won't necessarily need to be around for all the Melrose filming, obviously, though, depending on how much he wants to be (can be) personally involved with the production process.
But hasn't there got to be some Marvel in there somewhere?
I think TCW must have finished by now and Infinity Wars is probably filming through July, maybe August(?). BC's involvement in Melrose could be sitting comfortably for immediately after Infinity Wars, with 6 weeks(?) for "A Child in Time" still to have to be accounted for inside their production time. If I was Feige and/or the Russo Brothers, I think I might be a bit pissed off by having to so run rings round him. They've obviously come to an accommodation of sorts with the stand in, but it wouldn't entirely surprise me if they haven't downgraded/minimised his role as a result. One would never get to know, of course, but if Strange isn't the major player in the story that he was in the comics, and that it was presumed he would also be in the films, then one might start suspecting something changed.
Re The War Magician and Rogue Male, as well as the new latest announcement, actual production (or order of production) might depend on how well the screenplays turn out.

Dreamsincolour said More in likely there will be a time limit on the rights. Industry practice.
From personal experience: One of my husband's books had an option for film rights picked up a number of times and in each instance it was limited to a year. The latest one has been renewed 4 times by the same party and each year hubby gets an additional fee paid out to both him and his publisher for this renewal. No further developments though have followed through though... but as long as they pay the renewal fee they have those rights locked solid.
If it isn't renewed each year the publisher can open it up to other offers. At one time though it was optioned for a TV Movie (and a script was written, locations were scouted and even music was arranged - but it all fell through when final financing couldn't be arranged) and when that ran out those people never renewed for any rights at all, so the party that now has the rights moved in and the book is stuck in "development hell" so to speak.

We have been talking about his schedule in other threads but maybe this is the right one. I think the Patrick Melrose wrap is imminent now we are in December. Yesterday someone from the art department posted something on Instagram that suggested at least her department finished their work. The Knowledge originally reported it would be a 4 month shooting and considering they began on August 15th then they should be in the last few days. Source: linkI don’t know for sure but my guess is that he will go to shoot his scenes for the Infinity War sequel. I checked and according to this random article with an anonymous source they will still working in it until July 2018!!! link That sounds massive! Anyway the first movie was shot between January to July 2017 so that was *just* 6 months, if this one is similar and considering they began in August then they should finished in February 2018 (when does the director work in the post production of the first one? Maybe the August 2017-July 2018 is not that crazy after all!). The point is he could be busy doing this thing until his next not Marvel production. Then next thing should be Let it Fall Back/Rio. According to Luca Guadagnino, he will shoot it in Spring. The reports said Michelle Williams should finished her Venon role first. That production began the principal photography in October. Considering a long schedule similar to Infinity War (probably it won’t be the case) and speculating her role would be in needed until the last day then she should finished it in April. Then there is Jake Gyllenhaal who said will do a Dan Gilroy’s Netflix movie in March. He will play an art critic (there was a report by actual critics saying he is contacting a few of them for researching. I wonder if he would contact financial journalists next!) and a few sources say he wil star in it but the director talked about an ensamble film in which they will move from person to person and it’s told through different characters ( link) so I’m guessing it won’t be a long shooting for him. Also this is not a Marvel film so it could take them just a few of weeks to finishe the whole production! Conclusion: April! Pure speculation, of course! Then it was originally announced he will do Gypsy Boy in the Summer. After that: he mentioned a theatre production which I imagine should have a short run; Sunny March hired a popular scriptwriter for How to Stop Time and they had already two scriptwriters for The War Magician and Rogue Male; the announced imminent The Man in the Rockefeller suit but no new info at all and the rumored sequel Smiley’s People.

Peter Guilliam wasn't in much of the book, so it shouldn't take long.

Well, Chris Pratt has The Avengers movie and Jurassic Park and they mention other actors with more than one big blockbusters. Still, I think The Grinch should be massive. Mowgli is not a very sure bet and who knows if they will actually release Guadagnino movie this year. It could be but anyway it’s not something that will/need to do huge amount of money.
