I would have liked that he could had worked with people like David Lowery, James Gray and Luca Guadagnino but like a lot of indie films the collaborations fall! It’s not uncommon.
I think that his more challenging work is until now on the small screen. The good news is that TV is in general is more challenging and interesting that most things on big screen although it’s still undervalued by some snob film people! That’s why we don’t see the same hoopla with TV awards than with the Oscars but again, that’s probably not a bad thing!
Still, it can’t be say he doesn’t have an important film career. He is already an Oscar nominee and has been in a few huge franchises. Again his last two films for the big screen were both in the list of the ten biggest hits of 2018.
Considering he is a commercially successful film star and an acclaimed small screen actor, I’m sure a few important directors would like to work with him. After all, Paul Schrader named Patrick Melrose as his best film of the year and considered that the standout was BC! So I don’t doubt we will see an interesting author oriented project soon.

So, he is shooting 1917 this summer, Power of the Dog next winter, and Rio next spring. Anything announced for this fall? Dr. Strange 2?

It would be great if we have a project this fall but there is nothing announced yet. Marvel movies principal photography last aroung 6 months so they should begin now if he wants to be free early next year for Campion's movie! Also they haven't announced cast nor anything except for the director so I don't think so.

So, Louis Wain is filming now. Dr. Strange 2 and Power of the Dog are both supposed to film in the winter (sounds busy, but at least he'll only have to get tan and muscular once.) 1917 and Ironbark are finished and will be released later this year, along with The Current War. Any news about Rio, Guantanamo Diary, Rogue Male or The Man in the Rockefeller Suit? Any other projects I'm forgetting?

I don't think we have an official date for Doctor Strange 2. Considering it will be released in May 2021, I suspect the shooting will be around May next year so no this winter. Marvel didnt't revealed too much info about shedules but Australia government announced both “Shang-Chi” and "Thor" filming there. They said Thor shooting will be in August 2020. There is not date for Shang-Chi but casting info suggests it will be early next year. Some said August this year ( link) but those "some" seem to have problem to understand official statements ( link) Anyway there is too many disinformation and plain lies around these kind of movies that is difficult to really know but until now, I doubt of the random sites claiming Dr. Strange is filming in January because a) The Power of the Dog and Jane Campion claiming BC is a sure bet in the cast meanwhile they have problems with Elisabeth Moss's schedule (and the producer saying they will shoot it in January and February 2020); b) They have to shoot WandaVision with Elisabeth Olsen first (rumours say late September); c) Most speculation is based in casting calls that seems to be actually for Shang-Chi. So, I think it's Louis Wain, then The Power of the Dog at the beginning of 2020 and Doctor Strange in late Sring or early Summer. About Guantanamo Diary, he nows appears as a cast member on IMDB, playing Conservative Amerirican judge and ex-marine Stuart Couch. Probably it will be a short part considering it's the story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi and not him but he is also considered an important figure and a hero in the fight for human rights in Guantanamo Bay. No news about the rest. EDITED: I found the original announcement again by Australia government about a then untitled Marvel movie shooting there: www.miragenews.com/major-marvel-feature-set-to-film-in-sydney/It's from April and it says "later this year". There is not mantion of August! Also I found this interview with a Marvel sound mixer saying Shang-Chi "coming to Sydney next year (2020)" linkI don't know but I think sites reporting Dr. Strange shooting early next year are mixing leaks for Shang-Chi with Strange's info.

Good! I'm glad to hear he doesn't have a scheduling conflict for POTD, I'm really looking forward to that one.
