Speaking of dolls . . . Does anyone else remember those really fancy dolls that were displayed on beds, on lacy bedspreads? I think they were actually just the top part of the doll, because the bottom was a big gathered skirt. I don’t think they were ever intended for kids’ beds - they were for master bedrooms. We never had one of those in our house, but I remember seeing them when visiting other people, and I was so jealous because the dolls were so pretty! Those were the days when guests’ coats were put on people’s beds during a party. (Remember that? Or was it maybe an Italian thing . . .)

I remember the coats on beds thing, but not the dolls on beds. 🤷🏻♀️

I remember the bed dolls! Like this right?! imgur.com/a/1nkBp4aI also remember coats on the bed! I went to a gathering just recently and the coats were stored on the master bedroom bed. Now adays I just have very small gatherings so we just throw guest coats over the office chair.

Luckily I've never seen one of those things. They belong to horror movies.

Ha! Those bed dolls sound creepy now, but they were supposed to be classy, I think! And the bigger, fancier and frillier the dress, the better!

I just remember seeing some of my mum's relatives having the ones that you crocheted the dresses for. You bought the top of the doll and then got a pattern for the dress and bonnet to crochet. We never had them but they were quite the rage at one time in the 60s. And we're considered pretty classy!

I thought those types of dolls were used in the bathroom to cover the extra roll of toilet paper. 😂
I guess it’s okay to have the current roll of toilet paper hanging out in plain sight but not the EXTRA roll, lol.

We never had the toilet roll dolls, but I do remember them.
(Not Barbie-related, but I’ll bet the young folks out there don’t know that way back, our toilet paper, paper towels and Kleenex came in every colour you can imagine. I’ll never forget the turquoise paper towels, Kleenex and paper napkins we had in our kitchen that matched our turquoise walls!)

I had forgotten the dyed paper products! Thank god we stopped doing that. Even my parents complained about the ruination of the rivers and were glad to switch to plain white.
