I thought it meant world-wide, too. And I just checked Netflix here (in Canada) - yes, it’s showing here, too.

I watched it today, and it was terrific! I then watched some of the behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube. I remember really liking Alive years ago, and this was much better. It was great to see that some of the survivors are still around and were supervisors on the movie. I liked that the situation itself created enough drama without having to make up something that never happened.
I’m remembering how much I hated Titanic when it came out because they obviously figured that the sinking of a massive ship would be so boring for audiences that they created a ridiculous “love story” to keep us interested. Ugh!
(By the way, I never want to fly in a plane again. Or eat meat.)

Glad you liked Society of the Snow mllemass.
It still is my very most favourite film this year (although I did really enjoy Anatomy of a Fall too).
Have you ever seen A Night to Remember? If you didn't like the romance story in Titanic (personallyi did becauseof the great chemistrybetween the two actors), then I'd have to think ANtR is exactly what you might be interested in. It's a wonderful film and utterly fascinating in the way that the story unfolds. Despite its age it still holds up beautifully! And you get to see a VERY young David McCallum in one of his first roles.

For me, it was the LACK of chemistry that was a problem! They seemed like mother and son, and I found it gross. And I have a long list of other complaints about the movie. It made a ton of money, so obviously other people did like it.
The most memorable thing about going to see Titanic was that it was the first movie showing at a brand-new nearby gigantic Cineplex theatre. So we saw it on a giant screen, which did look amazing. I remember being doubtful that people would be willing to drive to the middle of nowhere to see a movie. Before then, movie theatres here were part of a mall. But eventually they opened a bunch of restaurants and stores around the Cineplex, so it’s actually a very busy area now.

I had thought the big draw of Titanic was the chemistry between Leo and the female audience members, lol
