I hope they paid him A LOT of money for what was probably one day’s work. When I was in Italy in 2002, everywhere you looked there were ads with Pierce Brosnan selling some watch - and I never saw those ads here. I guess there are worse ways to make money!

I'm still not understanding this fully (I'm not a gamer obviously). Is BC just a marketing spokesperson - like he's in the ads promotingthe game? Or is he actually a "voice" of one of the characters in that fantasy video game?
While I can see him wearing Prada clothes on the red carpet and wearing fancy watches, etc. (while he gets paid to advertise the company's goods) I just don't picture him actually ever playing this game, while he's "endorsing" it.
I suppose it's more like the time when he got paid to be in the car ads (for that tiny car that jumped the Tower Bridge in that TV ad) or when he was in the ads for that Chinese appliance company. It's just an "income stream" sort of thing.

I think the website says that he’s the world-wide spokesperson for the game. I don’t think he voices a character because the game can be played in a bunch of languages.
I, also, am not a gamer and I have never understood the appeal. My friend brought me to a Dungeons & Dragons evening once - way back when it was a new thing - and I can’t tell you what on earth was going on because I just didn’t get it. And I was bored out of my mind the whole time. I love games, but not the role-playing ones.

Yeah, he’s been paid to sell the game, not be in it. It’s not really a role playing game. Sure you have your civilization and commanders but there’s no yelling “France and Joan of Arc will smite thee!” kind of stuff.
You can spend real money to buy troops and speed things up. That’s how that guy I saw spend so much was doing it, buying troops. He was on a rampage, the king of his alliance, but he was the only one with any power and was trying to make up for that by buying troops. It was hilarious and such a waste of money. He was incredibly powerful but eventually enough of us got together and beat him. Every once in a while someone lets their ego run amuck, or they get angry and take out a bunch of their own before stomping off in a huff, usually men who get too caught up in the play, lol.
I make it a practice not to spend real money on pixels.

I make it a practice not to spend real money on pixels. That's just common sense! Money should be spent on chocolate! 😂

Think the real answer is - “because they offered me a humongous sum of money for a for a few hours work so I thought why not?”

I still remember when he didn't want to play Doctor Who because his face would be everywhere selling lunch boxes.
