By the way, there was a similar creepy incident in an Australian Con some years ago but the crazy person was stopped before reaching BC. If I remember well, she made a delusional video before going to the Con so organizers had her identified. That was a bit different. It was the Asian girl who thought she was BC's girlfriend/fiancée and had once before called BC to his hotel room saying so and also organized a party during Frankestein's run.

I spent far too long (literally hours) reading the translated Twitter posts of fans who got to meet Benedict at that comic con. After a while, there was a recurring theme: I was so nervous. It went so quickly. I had a pose in mind but I forgot how to do it when I got in front of the camera. We were warned not to touch the celebrities, so I stood far away. When I saw the finished picture, I realized that he had moved closer to me/put his arm around me/did the pose I wanted perfectly. His eyes were so blue (ha!).
The fans were so nervous that they hadn’t realized that he was touching them until they saw the photos.
None of this took place in isolation. It wasn’t Benedict and a fan alone in a corner by themselves.

We only have to glance at the “hater” contingents posts to know that there is an element of crazy in the BC Fandom (and indeed every fandom). Some people just do not have the ability to differentiate between fantasy and reality. So when the two collide, as in when they get to meet the actor of their fantasies in reality they just have no idea how to behave. I feel sorry for the famous people who have to deal with it. I feel sorry for the deluded fans too. Their real lives must be extremely dysfunctional and sad.

The Frankenstein party girl was the same person in the Australian Con?! I remember that I actually visited her blog at the time just for morbid curiosity and she was a very active Queer activist! She used to write for a LGBT magazine. I remember some fans actually wrote to the magazine to “inform” them how untestable was she. It was before the “cancel culture” thing so I don’t think they were trying to “cancel” her but it was amazing how she presented herself as a very serious engaged person to the world. Now it’s easy to see how faux Internet activism, fandom and madness go hand to hand!

Well now the Haters are saying that Adam Ackland, Sophie, David Birkin and God knows who else (!) paid minions to purposely sexually harass BC during this convention to teach him a lesson!
They are postulating openly that since EVERYONE in the fandom knows BC isn't "with" (re: under the control of) Sophie, and has stopped "pretending" he's married, Sophie paid people to harass him to say "See! If you continue acting single, fans will act inappropriate with you!".
Where they got this idea that BC has been "acting single" in public (while he was wearing his wedding ring, no less!) is anyone's guess! But that's what they are saying!
Lol! Talk about denying reality!

You are all so right.
The lines between admiration of a celebrity and plain insanity often blur.
It‘s completely ok to be a fan of someone and yes, also to be drawn to him / her in many different ways.
But as far as sexual attraction, it please has to stay in your own bedroom.
I also feel for his wife. It certainly is not easy for he, too…. She knew what she was getting into, of course, because, she‘s a very bright and self-confident woman.

In fact I think one of the things that riles the haters the most is that Sophie has never so much as acknowledged their existence and clearly doesn’t give a toss what they say. Which is exactly the right way to treat them. Because they really don’t matter one iota. As for fans behaving inappropriately when they meet BC, I guess that’s the sort of thing every partner of a famous person has to endure. And as you say Sophie seems confident and bright enough to deal with it. At the end of the day she is married to BC and the mother of his children and they aren’t!

At the first con he got groped at he got upset and the organizers said no touching him anymore. Then *he* got upset b/c the fans were hanging all over Mads and not touching him. He hadn’t realized the organizers said no touching him, lol. So then parameters were put in. This time he did get upset when that person tried to grind on him, so I think he was allowed to touch them (hand on shoulder), and they weren’t allowed to touch him.
Why all that has to happen b/c one insane person can’t handle themselves seemed too bad, doesn’t it? What’s bizarre and scary to me is these people see and act like everyone else and they can’t discern fact from fiction. We work with them, some folks are married to them, etc., and yet they live in an alternative reality. Yikes!

It’s all common sense. I remember people saying how great was Keanu Reeves because he NEVER touched any fan. Not inappropriately but also nor appropriately! He just apparently does a gesture with his hand like touching… the air! Lol Good for him but I thought it was kinda sad or even slightly pathetic. You know, 0 human contact!
The trick is just being a decent person and not touching inappropriately anyone!

"The Frankenstein party girl was the same person in the Australian Con?!"
I think the Frankenstein party girl was from London. The Australian Con girl was from Australia.
Who is he stalker chef somebody mentioned? Is that the red ribbon person?
