My eyes opened wide when I read this story this morning -
www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/damian-lewis-nearly-fainted-on-stage-after-bursting-ear-drum-hours-before-performance-a3508881.html
What a close call! I was just talking to a dear friend of mine yesterday who nearly lost her husband from a ruptured ear infection which developed very quickly into meningitis and he ended up in intensive care and close to death for a bit. Luckily he has recovered enough to be sent home now although he is still on heavy antibiotics and will be for another 4 weeks. Granted he is a lot older than DL but still it crossed my mind the seriousness of the situation that Lewis found himself in with his predicament.
The Goat is one of the plays we have bought tickets to go see when we visit London next month. I have seen one review so far of the production and it was so-so - highly complimentary of SO performance, much less so of DL's. I'll add my on thoughts on this production in this thread when I get to witness it in person later.
Here's the review from the Evening Standard -

Right now I am just glad that Mr. Lewis (who is a favourite actor of mine) seems to be on the road to recovery and didn't suffer any more serious effects from his ailment. Can't wait to see him and SO together on stage (I loved her in THC with Cumberbatch!!).
:-))
