What are the chances they are actually working on an episode of on of Grylls’ shows, where he drags celebrities into the wild to challenge their adventure and survival skills? I saw Running Wild pop up on my recommendations on Disney + the other day and immediately thought Bc would be a great fit for it! Several other Marvel actors have already d:one it, and it would be just the kind of “I’ve never done it before, I love new experiences” things BC talks about High? If this is true:

I really do not like Bear Grylls so don't think I could watch. Hopefully BC won’t be killing any animals to eat as part of his “survival” experience. I’m so it’s all over between us ! 🥲

Did you ever watch that episode of Anthony Bourdain where he’s down in the Amazon with a tribe who lives very close to the land and they’re having a feast and they give him the honor of killing the pig? It’s a difficult watch (although they pan away during the actual moment to focus on his face instead of the spear into the pig), but he spends a good bit of time talking about how hard it is and the importance of acknowledging the sacrifice the animal is making as well as the difficulty and need of taking animal lives for our own sustenance. He didn’t take it lightly, it was hard for him to do, but he did it because the people there expected it of him and it was to respect them, too. I appreciated how he didn’t just gloss over it like many programs do. He talked about the humanity of the moment and the relationship we have with animals and how that connection needs to be understood and talked about. That has stayed with me over the years. I would assume BC might feel the same way.

Here I was, naively thinking: rock climbing, rappelling, maybe surfing. Now I'm thinking oh god if Ben drinks his own piss or slaughters something, it's going to give me the biggest ick in history. Great. Just great. 😂 😂. Sorry! I’ve never even watched that show because I don’t like Bear Grylls so it may just be as you imagined. It’s just that these survival shows do have a history of needlessly killing innocent creatures for entertainment.

I've done some wilderness camping (in my early years) and Dan and I are interested in roughing it in the wild. We usually watch a Canadian version of this type of show called Survivorman. It's done by a man named Les Stroud.
Yes, he does eat animals but he doesn't use any "tools" except what he can find in the wilderness. So mainly traps (by using "pitfalls") or fishing. He eats a lot of plants! Or goes hungry.
The only time I saw him with a firearm was when he was in the Arctic and he carried a rife in case of polar bear attacks.
Stroud doesn't really like Grylls because he thinks he uses too many staged events and unsound techniques. He thinks Grylls is more into entertaining than showing people how to survive in the wild.
For me I don't see anything wrong with eating animals in the wilderness. I would watch BC on a show like this but I'm not squeamish about that sort of thing since I grew up on a farm and helped my dad prepare chickens and ducks for our dinner table.

I think people killing and eating animals for genuine survival is one thing but doing it for a TV show or for an “experience” is another. Those people don’t need to survive. They’re doing it for entertainment. If BC were to do that I would genuinely no longer be a fan of his. I’m hoping it won’t happen though.

Not even the Inuit and native peoples hunt animals for genuine survival nowadays.
I don't see anything wrong with hunting an animal if you eat it (regardless of why you are doing it).
And this type of show is certainly "entertainment", but so are cooking shows. They eat animals all the time for our viewing pleasure.
Didn't BC already appear on a cooking show? So whether food is obtained through hunting or farming or you just pick it up at the shops, it's all part of the natural food cycle to me. At least when you procure it yourself you know it isn't injected with chemicals/plastic or sugars.

If he does appear on that show (which I’ve never seen), I doubt that it will have anything at all to do with hunting or killing, or even fishing. He’s voicing a nature documentary series, where the focus is on how wildlife survives, not on how to kill it and eat it. Maybe they’ll be foraging for mushrooms or something, and having to hike and camp out in the cold.
