Sounds to me like the family was on an outing.
Maybe incorporating it with a visit to Sophie's mum, but definitely together up in the "wilds" of Scotland. Apparently the area is a very popular site to see for its natural beauty.

It says they’d been using n Scotland for two weeks so probably spent New Year with Sophie’s family and then went on a little holiday to the Highlands. It’s beautiful up there.

It seems a few Johnny Depp fans believe he is starring Eric alongside BC. I don’t think so. Actually, I’m sure he isn’t! He seems to be shooting some fan thing about Pirates of the Caribbean in Budapest.
I think it’s still too soon for a company like Netflix to hire someone like him. They have a few “controversial” comedians in the company but they are professional jokesters who “got in trouble” for what they intentionally said not for what they allegedly did. His situation is more difficult. Also he is a very visible face. The other day someone asked why a filmmaker like David O. Russell could still do films with big stars after he was accused of some very ugly stuff and, I think, the answer is: because almost no one knows who David O. Russell is! Armie Hammer case wasn’t advancing. Now it seems, it is. Hopefully, the truth could be exposed whatever it happened and people could find justice but even if he were innocent, how could someone like him, an actor, that depends on his reputation to be accepted by audiences could have a career after all that! Of course, Americans would never embrace him again after all those stories of S&M even if they were consensual!
Depp is/was a more beloved figure than him and I’m sure a lot of Americans don’t believe the accusations (also sadly, domestic violence isn’t so “scandalous” like weird sexual stuff) but they are still very serious accusations and there are also a lot of people who believe them and are angry about them so I don’t think Netflix would risk a production like that for him. I think that, in general, actors even when they are big stars have much more to lose with sexual or domestic violence scandals than any other powerful members in the industry.
He also seems to be a diva! Maïwenn, his new French co-star and director, praised him in a new Premiere interview but the anecdotes about their “culture crash” filming the movie make him sound like, well, a diva! He apparently used to get angry when she knocked to his trailer’s door to tell him he was needed on set, for example. She seems to be infatuated with him but IMHO he should try to be extremely humble when he could find another project anywhere. You know try to build new bridges.

IMO he has never NOT looked like a hot mess! Really, I mean the man does not take care of himself.
Sometimes BC dresses down a bit or wears a pair of pants that are baggy, but Depp looks like a homeless person, completely disheveled and ragged.
I have very little to no sympathy for him. Not a fan of his acting and the only movie of his I liked (What's Eating Gilbert Grape?) Leonardo DiCaprio acted circles around him! I only watched Black Mass for BC and I don't think Depp made his part memorable at all.
I don't really pay that much attention to his public life, but the little publicity I did notice was... not good to say the least.
Hedonistic, obvious entitlement (private islands, drugs, etc.), temperamental and violent at times, public tantrums - he just seems, to me to have a VERY high opinion of himself. I'm not saying he actually IS this type of person, but that's the impression he made on me at least.
I acknowledge that others may see him differently but to me he isn't an interesting actor or man.

He certainly does look pretty rough in that shot. Unfortunate, but I still hold great affection for him. He’s a unique person, yes, rather weird, but with a good heart, I think. There’s tons of stories about his kindness and generosity towards strangers. He’s constantly visiting sick kids in hospital and doesn’t make a big show about it to the press. And he’s created some iconic characters with his acting. Jack Sparrow is an indelible creation who’s brought great pleasure to and enriched the lives of millions of people and that’s only one example.
He does lead a lifestyle I don’t really understand - hard living, rock and roll, close to the edge, altered states, sort of a Beat attitude, etc., and hangs with those wild folks on that edge (Hunter Thompson, Keith Richards), loved Jack Kerouac, Anthony Bourdain. But he’s a true creative and that angle of anti-establishmentism is a legitimate avenue of exploration in life and broadens our world view. It’s not for me, personally, but I appreciate having those teaching available for study.

I like Depp as an actor and in his younger days he was stunningly beautiful (in my opinion!😀) But he really has seemed to be on a major downward spiral these past few years to the extent that he now looks just dreadful and really very unhealthy. He seemed to be settled and happy with Vanessa Paradis and then some sort of major, destructive mid life crisis kicked in from which he has clearly not yet recovered.
