I don't watch The Good Place, but I saw this episode. They had an environmental activist who I guess slightly resembled Benedict - hence the random mention! The guy was nice-looking and they even describe him as hot later.
I always remember Benedict telling the story of being at a party years ago where he was recognized byTed Danson, who was very excited to see Sherlock there!

In this article about actors who got the part after bad auditions, they talk about Neil Patrick Harris' audition for How I Met Your Mother. According to NPH, Benedict auditioned right after him. This is the first I'm hearing of this! Apparently, NPH wrote about in in his book of memoirs. Do you suppose it's true? www.looper.com/107979/awful-auditions-still-got-actors-part/

I remember that quote from when his book was released. I didn’t read it but someone posted it on Internet. It was a joke, of course! It seems that site just ignored the comical context of the “anecdote” and took it literally. Something not weird in this age and times!

Wow! Hollywood based a series in his life!
EDITED: I read it again! It’s a book! Sorry!

Ahhh - another mention on Jeopardy!
The question was in a TV category, and they showed a very nice picture of Martin Freeman. That in itself was exciting, but then the question was something like "Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes is kept in line by John Watson, played by this man". The contestant got it right.
This has made me ridiculously happy on a day that Benedict wasn't nominated for a BAFTA!

BBC One used Benedict to jump aboard this Twitter trend:

I came across two mentions today! I was catching up with yesterday's episode of Pointless, and they had a category about the cast of Sherlock! (I knew them all)
And on Jimmy Kimmel the other night, he did one of his Lie Witness News segments about the name of the new royal baby. "Cumberbatc" is mentioned at about 1:27, but the whole video is very funny and silly.

Probably not so random because they are in the same movie but...
