I remember reading about him talking about getting sick at the theater (?) and trying to find his parents. Then he got rushed to hospital with appendicitis and they operated quickly. He has THE cutest scar ever! 😜

Thank you roverpup. I thought so too! I had see lots of outtakes from that photo shoot, but that one was new to me last week. Wouldn't have really made a cover as you can't see his face too well, but it is nice as further proof that he worked out quite hard for Doctor Strange!
And queenzod thanks for more detail about how he got the scar. I can just imagine he must have been scared if his parents were not right there when he began to feel sick!

Having appendicitis is scary anytime, let alone when you are a teen and not able to find your parents to help you out. I remember when my appendix became inflamed, I was at home from work that day, not feeling too well and suddenly I realised it might be more than just a touch of stomach flu (it was the tenderness in that particular area combined with my nausea). I consulted Google and the symptoms I was feeling matched appendicitis exactly, so I took a cab to "emerg" and was under the knife a couple of hours later. Such a simple operation but it can be fatal if left unattended. Thank goodness for Canadian universal healthcare! :-))

Yes thank goodness you were alright! I never had my appendix out, but when I was the age BC was having that happen, I had abdominal surgery for injuries from a car accident. They could have removed mine, but didn't expect me to live - so they fixed what they had to and stapled me together. Ever after I have had terrible scars over my whole torso. I just want to say the surgeon who did BCs appendectomy did a wonderful job closing! I still can hardly see the scar even with that close scientific observation we have been doing.....

Well, I didn't have a big scar from the appendectomy (unlike BC I had a Laparoscopic Appendectomy) but I have enough other scars from various other operations that it wouldn't have been a big deal anyway. Thank goodness you recovered from your operations. Here's another favourite pix of BC to study over and over and over... I love everything about this picture - Glassesbatch, his hand on her shoulder, Sophie's hairstyle, and that lovely dress she is wearing. :-))

My older brother had appendicitis when he was about the same age as Ben. My mom thought it was the flu so she was being lackadaisical about it. My dad came home from work, found out and just started screaming at my mom. His brother died of a burst appendix when he was eight and my dad was six, so my dad was freaking. They got to my bro's just in time - it was already gangrenous. All I really remember was the copious amounts of barfing.

He's actually had the Apple Watch since the last Hay Festival on May 29/16 - Actually since I am in this thread I might as well post a few more of my favourite photos from that event... This one taken of BC listening to Sophie read her heartbreaking letter from Chrissy Hart to JK Rawlings - And the perfect next picture, Sophie preparing to go on stage to read that letter - And last but not least one of them together from the dinner party at the Hay - :-))
