My first reaction was: "Please, please not Harry Potter!" Having said that I don't think it's true. It's not a industry outlet and BC is working in Avengers now and he is more than attached to Melrose next. I don't know when they will film this but I know it's imminent. The link to the article: nypost.com/2017/07/01/johnny-depp-will-soon-be-as-reviled-as-bill-cosby/The author seems to write opinion pieces about women and relationships. She doesn't seem someone with insiders info. nypost.com/author/jennifer-wright/So no...Please no!!!

LOL! That sounds much more logical! After all it's a tabloid!
He is attached to star a mini-series next month so it would be very unprofessional or at least polemic to abandon a project so near to the shooting. Also extremely weird because he is producing it, too!

Both are problematic but Bill Cosby is without doubt more problematic than Depp. It's also very naive of her to think his violent actions will affect his career. Sadly that doesn't happen. Maybe the last Pirates movie wasn't so successful in the USA but it was a huge hit internationally.
There was a similar article in The Guardian before the movie release. It was not just about Depp but also Brad Pitt (!!!) although the author accepted that the facts in his case weren't clear enough. She claimed their careers were tarnished in an irreparable way in a similar way women's careers were tarnished years ago when they were involve in scandals. Of course, she is wrong and I don't think it's a good idea to think things have changed when they are not. It's just the left that likes to think they have won the cultural wars just because a few people scream very loud in social media.

I can't watch it but my reaction was exactly the same!
He had his own franchise and a good batch of projects that are clearly passion projects, why he would abandoned them just to accept to replace a disgraced famous actor in a supporting role originated by him? He doesn't need the role at this particular moment of his career and I doubt it's a dream role for him, like Patrick Melrose or working with Luca Guadagnino are, according to his own words in old interviews.
EDITED: How do you delated that post? I never can! Just edit them!
