I don't know when the process changed, but it wasn't like that in 2014. That year, in order to vote, you were asked to drop your ticket into the collection boxes as you left the theatre after the movie, or vote online. Because I wanted to keep my ticket as a souvenir, I voted online. I remember that I had to put in the number code from my ticket in order to vote.
This year, when I printed out my ticket at home, it included a separate voting ticket you could cut out to place in the collection boxes after the movie. I didn't do that, wanting to vote online, instead. But then I discovered it could only be done through the TIFF app, which I didn't have. Downloading the app took forever but it eventually worked. I looked up The Current War and thought I would be asked to enter my ticket code, but no. All I had to do was click on "I want to vote for this movie" or something like that. I was just telling my sister about it today. You could vote without ever having seen any of the movies. I was tempted to tell everyone on this forum to go vote, but it would have meant downloading that awful app and I wouldn't want to put anyone through that!

I saw on tumblr people sharing the page for downloading the app promoting the vote for Call me by Your Name and on twitter people commented on the possibility of voting without entering the code.
I didn't vote because it makes no sense without watching.
Do you know if you could vote more than once?
That award is a joke now.

I don't think you could more than once for the same movie because the app would show that you've already voted for it. But you could vote for as many movies as you wanted! In 2014, I saw Pride and TIG, and I voted for both of them.
