I read the article, and it's lovely to get a little more background on the fabulous CP! I was especially pleased to read the mostly-positive comments section. There was the usual "I don't see why anyone would find him attractive" comment about Benedict, but others came to his defense.

I read every comment (4 pages of them) and I could count the number of negative comments on two fingers. That was VERY refreshing indeed!
Cabin Pressure is my go-to material if I need cheering up (or if I am doing something torturous like riding our stationary bike). And I absolutely love BC’s performance as Martin! Every one of the cast was perfect and JF is a brilliant writer.
I am glad it is still appreciated by it’s many fans!

It seems like Cabin Pressure would be great for just listening while you're doing something else, but it's really not because it requires you to pay attention. I don't know how people can listen to it while driving! But it's perfect for cleaning and tidying up, where it's just routine drudgery and you can focus on the plot of the episode. And as an added bonus, each episode lasts 30 minutes so it acts as a timer to let you know how long you've been dusting!

Benedict isn't in this, but if you like Cabin Pressure you should listen to John Finnemore's Double Acts. The episodes are 30 minutes and have two characters. I listened to them when they were first broadcast a couple of years ago (I think), and they are so good!

I think the entire series is a comedy masterpiece! I just finished re-listening to the final 6 episodes last week, and then the behind-the-scenes stuff from the DVD set. It's still so strange to me that I can clearly see the airplane and all the characters, without ever having seen them.

The BBC just had an article come out about it, so I listened to some more. It is truly...brilliant. I just love poor Martin, and all of those madcap characters. Finnemore is a Crazy Wisdom Zen Master x 10.

I think it's a great series too! And very unusual and special particularly for its relistenability. They're are very few things that can take repetition at all, let alone be enjoyed more when you know what's coming because you know what's coming and are waiting for the nuances. If I'm honest, though, I don't think BC brought anything to it particularly (unlike Sherlock) that someone else couldn't have done (except for an increased audience of course). John Finnemore is seriously clever! I am very surprised that he hasn't been persuaded to write for television and/or film. He might be writing a series for television now, I think, but it's past time. John Finnemore's Souvenir shows are really good too. I only listened to them fairly recently when I came across the archive of them online. archive.org/details/JFSP56

I have to disagree! I think he brought a lot to the character. He created the character! I usually skip the episode that he's not in (Newcastle?) because it bothers me to hear someone else's voice. It's just not right!
We might have one of those situations here where it seems that he's just being himself, but Benedict has never seemed to me to be anything like his character.
