Gosh, what if he had been named Dominic? Somehow doesn't suit him at all!

I will post this here because it makes reference to this movie,
I kinda have thought this before and even mentioned it here but what silly Film Twitter doesn’t realize is that it’s not a good thing at all! The probably not so great but well made and easily accessible Oscar bait flick actually helped to the diversity of cinematic offer on theatres. Highbrow films didn’t used to win/be nominated to the Oscar? Who cares! They still were out there in bigger numbers and were easier to finance because there was a market for mid budget/indie films made for theatres. And producers used to take risks because adult audiences used to risk to go out to watch films on theatres
Of course, the main culprits were obviously streaming services, franchises and the pandemic but it would be interesting to see how the cynicism on social media influenced it. I don’t really think they are *THAT* powerful but they kinda have influence over young impressionable kids and mainstream media. Film Twitter can be pretty conservative and mainstream in their taste (those defending CODA win, for example) but, at the same time, the verbal fights over movies it’s so brutal and ridiculous! It’s the virtual “mob” (which basically it’s just a few of randoms) bullying anyone who likes what they think its uncool. But those “uncool” movies used to be popular and attracted wide audiences and producers knew that investing on adult artistic stuff could be financially rewarding.

I don’t remember this at all. The Imitation Game iwas one of the nominated movies, of course!
