It’s interesting that even though we agree he’s so good at playing bad guys, he tends to be criticized for those roles, too - especially when he’s playing a real-life person. Of course, those criticisms come before anyone has even seen the film/show! Benedict is known for being such a nice guy that some people figure he’s going to make a rotten person too likeable onscreen. We saw it especially with Julian Assange and Dominic Cummings, but also with fictional characters like Khan. And those critics were wrong!

I think the "criticism" of all those movies were extra-cinematic. BC's performances were widely acclaimed.

I just came across this on twitter. I think they’re asking you to eliminate the character you don’t like, and most have chosen Assange.
There are 4 that I don’t recognize!!

If the pictures are numbered from left to right: in the first group, pictures 3 and beneath it, picture 6. In the second group of pictures, the last one - picture 9. And in the third group of pictures, picture 5 in the middle. There are some characters whose names I can’t remember, but I do know where they’re from.

First puzzler - from Tipping the Velvet... I think he played Freddy who had a crush on a gal who was a lesbian.
Second one - from The Whistleblower. He played a real snake in the grass who was a corrupt official who was working against the heroine of the film. I enjoyed that one very much.
Third one - is from a wonderful miniseries Small Island. I have this one on DVD. He is the shy, hapless husband of the flamboyant Queenie who has a baby by another man who is a POC.
The last one - is from the movie Dunkirk. He plays the soldier who is left behind and in the evacuation.

Thanks! I feel better that I’ve never seen those things so it’s ok that I didn’t recognize those characters!

I watched Tipping the Velvet just once. It was before I knew who BC was but interesting enough I clearly remember him. Also he plays a working class kid! A fisherman if I remember well! Or at least he kisses the protagonist on a boat! Then she fells in love with another woman!
He was some kind of a villain in The Whistleblower but I think they cut most of his scenes so he is just in one. He plays an American guard.
Small Island was very well received even when I think it's kind of soup-operish. Anyway, his role is the shorter of the 4 leads but he was nominated for a BAFTA so it's worth it.
Dunkirk is a docu-movie with actors playing real life characters and a narrator talking about history. BC is one of the leads and he is great in it. I really recommend it.

This is a beautiful review. It makes me want to buy the Blu-Ray! I watched just the one on Prime which it's clearly the European version nor the director's one.

Ahh - I want to scream when I read stuff like this! Yes, the movie WAS unfinished at TIFF! They told us that at the screening I attended, but apparently they didn’t say it at the other screenings.
Unfortunately, the movie was doomed from the start because of that horrible Harvey Weinstein. Even the final edited version never did play anywhere near where I live.
