I had already read this article, maybe on reddit some time ago or a very similar one. It must be a rehash.
I watched Elementary till season 3 and got bored with season 4 that I stopped watching. For me it is just another procedural show and Jonny Lee Miller's take on Sherlock didn't convince me.

What a stupid article! Their criteria was created for Elementary to "win". I've never watched it and I don't want to. I have nothing against JLM or LL, but it still bothers me that CBS stole the idea of a modern-day Sherlock Holmes from Mofftiss. Steven Moffat used to tell that story a lot.
But we know that Sherlock Holmes has been the inspiration for other shows, as well. I used to love the original Law and Order Criminal Intent, and they've started showing repeats on tv. I looked up an episode on IMdB one day, and was surprised to read how how detective Bobby Goren was described:

Another article listing why Elementary is the best Sherlock Holmes adaptation. I’ve never watched Elementary, but the replies to the tweet are pretty funny!

Oh dear, such a stupid article. I used to watch Elementary randomly, but like with almost all American shows I got too bored after the 3rd season, even if I liked the twist with Moriarty. JJMiller, unfortunately, had zero charisma as the protagonist. Doctor House was far more interesting "spin off" of Sherlock Holmes. (well, at least the first three seasons).

Elementary is more a classic/conventional American procedural meanwhile Sherlock is much more eccentric and British. Nothing bad with the difference and with people preferring one over the other! The thing that bothers me about the rivalry is how BC was dragged to it by the press! I mean the rivalry exists even when the shows are very different. It began whith the Moffats negotiating the rights with CBS and the American network deciding to go with it when they couldn't bought it! They were in the right because Sherlock Holmes books are in public domain but Sue Vertue was very angry and openly talked about it! Sherlock fans did a lot of fuss, too! BC was the only one who publicly defended the American version and in front of Vertue! I remember the PBS woman was also attacking it! And he just stopped them to say they should desire them the best because there is a space for everyone! He was so nice, mature and very zen about the competition when everyone else around him were talking shit but a few months later the UK press decided nah! he is not a nice guy and published out of context quotes in which he apparently was very unhappy with Johnny Lee Miller and the series! LOL I wouldn't had care if he really would had attacked the series. There is a lot of talented guys that are real life idiots! But it was a lie, the evidence was out there but still people preferred to believe there was a feud! I think it's similar with the recent thing between BC and Freeman but at least they blamed Freeman there! Poor, Martin! Also see, the Chelsea Manning thing! I remember him ON VIDEO, defending her when she was in jail, asking for her release!!! And ALL the time referring her as "she". This a mere few days after she declared she was a woman. Then the migthy The Guardian published a fake article in which he supposedly said Manning deserved to be in jail and referring her with male pronouns! The last thing probably because at least part of the interview was made BEFORE Manning statement (it was mentioned in the text) but the rest was just lies! And The Guardian had to retract it, apologize and publish the whole quotes (without the fabricated sub-headline and the dumb commentaries of the author saying how conservative surely BC is because, you know, he is posh!) after BC's people demanded a correction. But still the harm was done and you still have SJW using that fabricated article against him! Again, I would have been happy with him being called out if he deserved it but you see him saying one thing ON VIDEO and next some predjuiced fanatic writes he surely think the opposite you just saw him saying and voilá! That's what people belive!

There are lots interesting spin-offs of Sherlock Holmes. I always loved Law & Order Criminal Intent, and was surprised to read this description of the show in the Trivia section on IMDB.

Someone started this twitter thread of similar movies that came out the same year, and they included tv shows Sherlock and Elementary, too. I’ve been reading the comments about which is better (Elementary seems to be ahead), but I’m surprised that so many people are still bitter about the supposed “gay-baiting” in Sherlock. We’re never going to get S5 with this kind of talk!

Obviously, if a pair of friends could seem gay to some the best thing to do is to change the sex of one of them so no one could never to think in gay stuff! That's the progressive way!
