I don't think everyone who works with Weistein is complicit at all. A lot of actors, writers, directors etc don't go about a film thinking they're working with/for him, they do their movie and if TWC comes along to distribute it it's not like they have much pull. I assume it's mostly their studios selling to TWC.
I don't understand celebs publicly defending Polanski though. He's a goddamn child rapist, that's as fucking low one can be. It's one thing to think he's a talented film-maker (I do, too) but a whole another to sign a petition for him to be pardoned. He ran like a coward in the first place, if he had stayed put he wouldn't be exiled now!

I can see a lot of people who defended Polanski attacking Weinstein just because the artist versus hated producer dichotomy. Not just Asia Argento!

It beggars belief that there are people prepared to argue that there is any excuse whatsoever for drugging and raping a child.
I wonder how many of the people wittering on about Polanski's artistic merits would be saying the same if it happened to one of their children. The idea that his talent excuses what he did is disgusting and the people defending him need to take a long hard look at their moral compasses. Because they need some major adjustments.

I hope Benedict distances himself from HW in the future. Even better if he speaks out against it. Unlucky for him too that it surfaced just when his movie is about to come out.
It just shows the dangers of rich (mostly white) people. Especially Hollywood and oscars where these people actually applauded a child rapist. Disgusting that a human being can applaud a person like that, no matter their talents.
Im sure HW with all his money and power will be fine. He'll probably be even seen as a hero to many in Hollywood for being brave during these tough times.

Polanski is a great filmmaker but he is also a criminal and should be in jail. I don't think they should award movies based in the respectability of the people involve in their making so I'm not against "applauding" good work but it's not acceptable to ask for freedom of a criminal based in his artistic talents. And I know those people who signed that document are much beloved figures that the evil Academy but still IMO they are worst. The Academy gave an award to an excellent work, those artists asked a child rapist to be freed because he does excellent work.

It just shows the dangers of rich (mostly white) people. Woopi Goldberg said that what Polanski did was not rape-rape. She also defended Cosby.

It's a sensitive topic for Americans with their long systematic racism history but powerful black males aren’t different and the consequences aren’t different. I remember people saying the reason Bill Cosby career was over but not Polanski or Allen was because he was black and they don’t. The thing is Cosby drugged and abused multiple women for decades and no one said anything. Polanski was actually arrested in the 70’s, accepted the charges and fled. The charges were always there and one of his excuses to fleed was actually racism: he is Jewish. Allen was accused, investigated and the charges were dismissed by experts in teh early 90's. He is a dirty old man who clearly like younger women but contrary to the other two he doesn’t have another rape accusation against him. Cosby career finished time before the long rumored abuse claims become mainstream. His kind of comedy wasn’t popular for years. Still he was untouchable for decades, contrary to the other two even when it seems he abused of much more women, and by the way, as the other he also didn’t end in jail. There is also last year cases against Casey Affleck and Nate Parker. Both awful men but the crimes aren’t exactly the same. Affleck was accused of harrasment meanwhile Parker raped, invited other men to rape and then destroyed the life of his ex¬ girlfriend. Again woke people called Affleck success and Parker failure in the award season racism and I don’t want to say it wasn’t an element but I was surprised to read that a few reviewers claimed they felt freed to finally say they didn’t actually liked Parker movie after the again long admitted crime become maisntream. So the movie was good because it was about an important theme for African Americans but after everybody was angry at the director for raping a girl (something that was public since forever) then “we actually never liked the movie but we have to say we did because he is black and we didn’t have black people included in the nomination the year before”. Sorry but it’s just not right.

Disgusting. I think women should stop sleeping with men until they address this situation. They can control themselves. They choose not to.
