This weekend it is Sherlocked in Birmingham.
From Aaron Richards, young Mycroft:
Another one by Tom Stoughton, young Sherlock:
I don't understand people still going to this kind of event, I guess to meet with friends (but you could meet them without paying).

Magda Said: This is definitely not my type of thing to attend at all, but I do understand and appreciate why someone might want to pay to participate in such an event.
I think it’s all about being with others who have the same level of passion for a certain “something”. They don’t have to be your friends per say but there is a bond between participants that lets them safely indulge their enthusiasms full throttle, without others around them judging them (which probably would happen if they weren’t in that collective atmosphere). I know I’ve been mocked or teased by some folks whenever I have shown just even a little of my “enthusiasm” for BC - so I absolutely understand why some fans may want to go to something where they feel more comfortable when they show their appreciation for something like this. And yeah, I can see them paying to do it.
It seems harmless enough and as long as they are having fun, I applaud their uninhibited joy for what they really, really love!

I’ve been to a couple of cons (not Sherlock, tho, from back in the the day), and they are a blast! It’s so much fun to hang with like minded people, get to meet the celebrities and listen to them talk, buy stuff you really don’t need but absolutely must have, dance the night away, stay in a hotel and order room service for a few days, and generally let your hair down and indulge like a pure fan without being sniggered at. You get to meet people, talk at length about your obsession, learn things, etc. it’s just a really good time.
But back when I went to cons, they were all fan run, so it wasn’t about trying to squeeze every last dime out of the attendees. You could actually hang out with the celebs, they would wander around and talk to the fans instead of being herded from one pay to see event to the next. They had just as much of a good time as the fans did. Often a better time, lol, b/c they could let go for a few days, too, absorb all that adulation and mess around having fun.

I would absolutely LOVE to attend a Sherlocked event! I'm so jealous of everyone who gets to go. The timing hasn't worked out for me so far, and if the show doesn't return, I'll never have the chance to go.
I've never been so obsessed with a tv show before, so being near the people responsible for it is my idea of heaven! Of course, having Benedict and the other stars there would be ideal, but I'd be happy with all the behind-the-scenes people, too.

Wonderful comments from those who were lucky enough to be there!
I get all warm and fuzzy thinking of Sophie and Ben curled up on a sofa watching a movie together! Awwww!

I know they are just messing around with props, but I hate seeing anyone playing with handguns like that, real or fake. Especially kids. And especially in a way that the gun is pointed at someone.
I’m not on you for posting it mllemass.
But I’m really upset at whoever took the pic, whoever thought it was a fine idea to let it be posted on IW’s SM account and whoever let this happen, had kids around prop guns without teaching them you never ever point at people no matter what the circumstances.
Kids have died / killed people playing around like this with guns they didn’t know they were loaded, didn’t think were real. Yes, children too and yes in workplaces, which is what a con is for people appearing at it.

I totally agree! I had the same reaction, but then I remembered that these aren’t just two little kids playing with a gun. These are actors who have training and, I hope, responsible parents nearby watching their every move.

Not to justify anything but very probably that’s a toy gun and not a real “prop” gun like apparently are very common on sets.
