Here comes round 2! Is the kid telling the truth or have they been paid off?

This is really quite upsetting. Now that the police have said they've found no evidence of criminal activity, and Huw is receiving in-patient care for a mental health crisis following on from these allegations, you would think the online discourse would soften a bit. Instead, it's all these people getting riled up and claiming that he's using the "mental health" label as a PR tactic! Not an iota of compassion to be found. This man has been outed by the red tops, his whole life upended, and he has a history of depression, yet they cannot believe he's in need of mental health support at this time. It's inhumane.
Nobody seemed to believe Schofield's claim that his mental health was affected by the speculation either, but I put that down to people being upset that he used Carolyn Flack to evoke a specific reaction. Of course his mental health would've suffered from being coerced out of the closet in that way. Anyone would be crumbling under this kind of scrutiny.
It's all very unsettling. The way the tabloids are outing people (in 2023!) is worrying as an issue on its own. We're regressing in a lot of ways.

It's very complex because there's the possibility of young people involved in both cases but yeah, it's not very different to the good old homophobic scandals! I mean people conveniently forget that Alan Turing was arrested when he was discovered with a teenager.
Of course, teenagers shouldn't be with adults but if the police didn't found anything illegal, it is because they were legal when/if something happened.
EDITED The irony with Turing is that he probably wouldn't be arrested today but he totally would be canceled!

It's very complex because there's the possibility of young people involved in both cases This is the cause of all the outrage. It's also the reason I became invested in the stories. It worries me how common these huge age gaps are with these public figures. But once the police have said there's nobody underage involved, people need to stop saying it's all a coverup. I'm starting to wonder if these high profile men are contacting such young people because they feel they would be less likely to sell the story to the press? Who knows, though.

Turing’s “affair” was with a 19 year old. So technically a teen, but legally an adult. But yeah, he’d still be hounded and cancelled and all that today. Twitter warriors have melt downs when they find out some 40 year old celebrity is dating a 20 year old. If they’re both of legal age, what is the problem? And yet Leonardo DiCaprio just gets a bit of side eye and some snarky memes for doing the same thing. I guess because he died so unfairly on the Titanic everyone is cutting him some slack, lol.

Apparently, that's the case with those two British men. Their "affairs" were with young adults not minors. That's why they weren't prosecuted.
I was surprised yesterday when they said there was a second "young person" but if you read the article the "young person" met the "old man" in a dating app so they was an adult. That wasn't mentioned! Also the accusation wasn't about sex but about the presenter getting angry at them for threatening to reveal his name.
I just read there is another "accuser" saying they received an "improper" message but I haven't read the article. That person works for the BBC so I guess it's another adult.
