It’s only showing once here (well, twice really - once each for Benedict and JLM as the creature), and I’m seeing both. I would be willing to drive farther to see them both again in another theatre, but all the theatres are showing them at the exact same time.

The last time they showed Frankenstein here, I had to tweet about it myself to get the word out there. But this time Cineplex has tweeted it:
I also think they might be showing trailers for it before movies now. Last week, I phoned an IT guy I used to work with to help me with something on my computer. As soon as I gave him access to my computer, he said “Hey! Benedict Cumberbatch!” I still don’t know what he saw to make him say that because I have no photos or files with his name on my desktop. But before I could ask him what he was looking at, he said “Did you hear he’s going to be doing Frankenstein?”. I told him that yes, I knew, and that I had seen it before and I had tickets to see it again. I forgot to ask him about it again, but I’m guessing he saw the trailer somewhere.

While they were both excellent as the Creature, I think Benedict was distinctly better in the role of dr Frankenstein

Everyone had favorites but if there was a consensus at the time it was that the version with BC as Dr Frankenstein and JLM as the creature was the better one because indeed BC was brilliant in BOTH roles meanwhile Miller wasn't as good playing the scientist. I think that's why he was edged by BC and he single-handedly won with critics The Critics Circle Theater Award.
It's also kind of unfair to fans who just can see one version because the creature is the better role and a real fan should definitely watch this version!
Believe or not there were also a few negative comments against the rest of the cast! Clearly the stars were the two main actors and again Dr. Frankenstein wasn't a very strong character compared to the creature! BC did an amazing job so he stand out with both characters.

Well I'm off in a few minutes to see Frankenstein (with BC as the Creature). Anyone else going tonight?
I can't wait!
And then next week him as the Doctor (which I have never seen)!
I adore his heartbreaking performance as the Creature - the last time I saw it I cried buckets, so this time I brought LOTS of tissues!

I got back half an hour ago. I had convinced a friend of mine (a former English teacher) to see it too, and she saw it at a theatre near her home in another city. By the time I got home tonight, she had emailed me about Benedict’s “amazing performance”. So she liked it, thank goodness! And now she wants to see the other version next week, too.
I almost forgot how difficult it was to watch. It’s just so heart-breaking!

I almost forgot how difficult it was to watch. It’s just so heart-breaking! I had a brief conversation with a gal who was waiting for her partner to come out of the toilet about how brilliant the performance was and I asked her if she was planning on going to next Monday's reverse performance. She wasn't aware that there was such a thing and seemed very interested in seeing it. I know I am not going to miss it. 😁 Everytime I see BC's performance as the Creature i just have a total emotional meltdown. He is just that good in the role to me. Just brilliant. And each time there is something new to appreciate about it. It is so heartbreaking, so intense but sooooo worth the pain of watching such a masterful command of body, voice and soul!

The last time I went to see it - which was my second time - I convinced my sister to come with me. She loved it, but she’s not someone who likes to watch things over and over. I can still remember her commenting “He’s really muscle-y for a skinny guy” about Benedict after watching it. Ha!
A week later, we went to see the other version. She swore that they had added scenes to it because there were parts she didn’t remember at all from the week before, which was good because she realized there was a good reason to seeing shows more than once. Also, despite hearing me talk about him 24/7 (or, more likely, because of it!), she had never watched Benedict in anything before. She really thought that a lot of his speech patterns as the Creature were actually him, and it was only after watching him as Victor that she was able to see how he really looked and spoke. She was amazed by his convincing performance!
It was the same when I dragged to see TIG - she thought that his teeth as Alan Turing were really his. I had to show her one of the 1000 photos of him on my iPad to prove that he actually had very nice teeth. She’d never heard of an actor changing his teeth for a role where teeth weren’t part of the plot. But that’s our Benedict!
