I would have to speculate as well, dreams, that the announcement by the BBC makes The Child in Time even more likely that it is a safe bet that it will be seen to fruition. I would have to think that once they made this announcement by their own controller saying that this project is on the books (as well as the simultaneous announcement by Masterpiece in the US) it is a done deal so to speak.
Otherwise they wouldn't have made the announcement at all.
This enterprise wouldn't be as big as investment of funds as a motion picture so a lot less risk involved I would think.
As far as The War Magician is concerned - I think I remember the same Gary Whitta comments about the script as you do and thinking that it was moving along in the stages of getting it done (sometimes a terribly slow process but still progressing nonetheless). But you never know about those sort of film projects - they are a lot bigger usually and thus are more at risk of falling through somewhere along the line. Could be a million little things that could put it to the wayside or delay it for an untold amount of time.
Rogue Male - seems much more in the development stages still. I loved the Peter O'Toole version of the story (and I have always thought BC would be an ideal candidate for a revival of a number of O'Toole roles - Lawerence of Arabia, The Ruling Class etc.). I hope this project still gets made. I would love to see BC in that role and I am excited to see how they would update the story or if they would leave it in a more historical setting.

His early books were creepy. He was called "Ian Macabre" then. I enjoy those books but yes, he "matured" as author since then.
It seems more concrete to me, too. It seems they have the script finished which it's a huge advantage compared to when they announced the films. Probably this is the project StudioCanal people said they would announced soon.
We will see if there is some info soon about casting and dates.

Absolutely. With television like this, it's surely a very safe bet re getting made. They're not looking for funding or trying to attract a distributor to progress a project. Of course it'll get made. One just doesn't know quite where/when it'll come in the scheme of things. Since there was no need to announce it at all for those other purposes, one might have presumed that it reflects pretty imminent production, but the Avenger's filming would seem likely to rule that out (BC's surely got to go out for that soon). So why make the announcement now? The only thing that occurred to me is the possibility that the announcement may serve to get them some sort of confirmation in advance re potential foreign sales, which could have bearing on the budget they'll be looking to work to.
And what happened to that Studiocanal announcement that was supposedly imminent? Has whatever that was fallen through? Or is this film possibly connected with Studiocanal too? They haven't said anything, though, so maybe not.
I'd like to see Rogue Male too, but I'm pretty sure that they'd have to leave it as a period story. Someone hiding in a wood should probably be found too easily these days with modern technology.

I saw this post in The Knowledge two days ago: Source
I imagine this could be his next project after Infinity War later this year.

I imagine this could be his next project after Infinity War later this year. I agree, sgev. They have confirmed shoot dates! And yes, this must be the project they were involved with Studiocanal. I think it is a good move. They start with a tv film which will have a lower budget and part of it must be funded by BBC and PBS.

I can't think that he will have a large part in Infinity Wars, can he? It has an immense cast and usually those type of "starring everyone but your Auntie Martha" movies only have room for a small amount of time for each one of the characters (unless you are in the "A" plot). It's already been reported that they are working around his filming schedule of the Current War (doing opposing shots with a body double for positioning and lighting) so that he can just jump right in after he is done with TCW. Could it be possible that his role in Infinity Wars will only take a couple of weeks of his time?
The Child in Time sounds like something that is moving rapidly ahead if The Knowledge article is correct and they have already started the process of finding on the ground producer, director and other hires. Filming small-ish movies (which I have to think is comparable to making a TV Movie) take usually about 6-8 weeks and of course there is post production work afterwards but if it doesn't involve a lot of special effects, and what not, then it could be on the telly this coming autumn/winter, perhaps?
Just speculation on my part.

WOW! If it's really in pre-production already, it sounds to me as if it will film before the Infinity Wars has wrapped. That's probably got another 6 months at least to go.
Has anyone seen what the production dates referred to are? Until they're seen, there is always the possibility that the reference is potentially only that company advertising themselves as a place to find the information when it's available.
