Went to see The Lost City of Z, today. Hmm, it really wasn't my kind of movie. And Robert Pattinson role was extremely small. Charlie Hunann was very good and the movie centered on him. I kept trying to imagine BC in the role, but gave up.

Really? I thought RP had a huge role, second only to CH! I was very impressed with RP's performance, also Sienna Miller. Didn't care as much for Angus Macfadyen. I couldn't tell the CH's accent was fake, but I'm American. I did think he was usually very soft-spoken, which wasn't how I pictured Percy Fawcett when reading the book, but thought it was a different and interesting choice. I did think BC would have brought more charisma to the role.

I agree. I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was ok. I tried to picture BC in the role instead of CH, and it really would have been a very different movie. CH just didn't come across as a man obsessed with an idea, and without that, the movie was a bit flat for me.

I haven't watched it, of course. But I don't doubt all actors are great considering James Gray talent to get the best of his actors. On the other hand, I wasn't surprised by King Arthur bombing hard in the box office. Of course there are a very few actors who are real movie stars nowadays but (and I really hope not sound nasty) Charlie Hunnam is not exactly a charismatic guy. He is a pretty face who seems to be nice and with enough artistic ambitions to search for good directors (not Guy Ritchie!) but he has the "honors" of being one of the actors who have gave one of the most plain performances I have ever watched in an early movie based in Charles Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby. Probably he got better with the years! I still haven't watched too much of him but I wasn't surprised with the results at all. Jude Law is a wonderful actor and extremely attractive but interesting enough it seems he never achieved real stardom or at least recognition beyond the silly UK tabloid culture. His most successful movies regarding box office are with bigger stars in the main roles (the undisputed charismatic Robert Downey Jr.).
