I think I mentioned this before, but I think that most people don't know that Sherlock is nothing like Benedict. They think that Benedict is just being himself. During the interviews he did for Patrick Melrose, he was often asked what it was like to play someone so different from himself. He'd say something like "But I've done that before. I've played Sherlock". It was just so surprising to hear him bring up Sherlock, when normally he might be annoyed at being asked about Sherlock when he's promoting something else.

I don’t see that tweet as negative. I thought he (?) was chastising the other reviewer for jumping the gun, maybe, or not talking about the different tones between episodes?

Ben will never escape Sherlock in the minds of the press. He could successfully portray the little old lady who lives in a shoe and they’d still find some way to compare it to Sherlock, lol.
