That's wonderful! Will we ever find out the North American equivalent? They must track the downloads. I know I have done my bid for its download ratings! Lol! In other ratings news... I see that someone on tumblr mentioned that there might be some skulduggery going on with the audience ratings for PM on Rotten Tomatoes. There are a flood of 1/2 star audience reviews and the overall rating is ridiculously low (at 41% last I looked). Honesty, what kind of morons would do that???

I wouldn't be surprised that something loved by critics it's not by audiences but the reactions on social media and IMDb are very positive, too. The episode is rated 9.0 on IMDb: www.imdb.com/title/tt7134092/?ref_=ttep_ep1There's a lot of fuss around the pay gap quote so maybe some pathetic person(s) angry with it is altering it.

I just checked again on RT and it just jumped up to 69% !! So there is a backlash to the poor ratings ! :-))

This aren't actually good numbers but I always thought this would be watched by more people on not traditionally devices. It was released on Saturday, traditionally a slow day (considering all the other series are Sunday shows and I'm Dying Up Here was renewed and has now better rating than last year but still it's below Patrick Melrose now then maybe it's not so bad for the network!). I don't know if they release numbers of not TV viewings devices. I think most people didn't watched it on Saturday night!
I only hope there's a Blu-ray relese. It seems they don't release all their shows and I really want to buy this!!!!

Is Showtime like HBO - in that they are less concerned about viewing numbers and more concerned about subscription increases because of new (or renewed) programming. I read a HUGE article one time about how HBO works and it was very interesting. It is so not like commercial TV or cable.
A question - if Showtime keeps track of viewing numbers do they track the number of times a show is re-watched (through “downloading” numbers)? Do multiple views count??
Wasn’t there a really recent tweet (comment, notation??) that indicated that Showtime was VERY pleased by the initial numbers for PM?
Every thing is relative, isn’t it? If 200,000 + is more than they are used to then it is a really big deal, right?
One thing there isn’t ANY question about - PM is being hailed as a HUGE critical success! That may help build momentum, I would have to think.

Yes, it's very relative for cable networks but still the only behind the scenes information they use to share publicly is ratings so maybe we will never know. I just want it to be considered a success enough for them to convinced them to release a Region A Blu-ray. That's all!

200K viewers is a minuscule number, relatively speaking, compared to what it would have been on the BBC of course. But barely anyone has SKY! The only place I know where it exists is one of the local pubs which has it for sports nights. I watched the Radio Times broadcast, myself. I wonder if there are any numbers out there for that?
I must admit I'm a little curious re what the reasons were, what the deal was, that had them go with Sky and Showtime in the first place.

I actually think the overnight Sky numbers exceeded their normal numbers so I guess it was a major hit in the UK. The thing is USA is a much bigger country and the number was similar but still Showtime numbers haven't being great lately so PM is not a weird exception.
Originally it was a Channel 4 project but it seems they just let it go at certain moment. I think it's mentioned in one of the articles that they had problems trying to attach networks. I'm guessing it's because the theme and the way it's presented: a comedy/dramedy about child sexual abuse with very explicit use of drugs doesn't sound like something easy to sell! But after watching the episode 8 of Twin Peaks is easy to understand why Showtime is the riskiest network out there so maybe that's why.
