There were a pair of negative ones because the abortion sketch at the beginning. It’s funny that they are accusing SNL of not being funny anymore since they got into politics because they have always done sketches about politic stuff, especially in the cold opening and the breaking news section and like most media ever, they have always tend to be more liberal than conservative.

I never noticed that she ties that blue bandanna like Phil tied Bronco's scarf. Ah, my random thought of the day.

I'm laughing again, just seeing that still from the prison song sketch. "Where did you get that fancy drink?" "What, you fellas didn't get one?"

I think I remember reading at the time that the Mother’s Day sketch with the signs was a bit of a running joke on the show. They had apparently done it before, with different occasions being celebrated. If that’s the case, then maybe the one with Benedict really was the best of them.

I thought the episode would be horrible when they did that sketch! They usually do the best at the beginning because it's so late that most people doesn't watch the whole thing! But I think that episode got stronger with each sketch.

It was a terrific episode and he gave it his all, even in the more cringy sketches. The strongest for me were the pizza one, Blue Bunny, Lansdale House (Cecily channeling Carol Burnett perfectly), and the prison one ‘cos I liked the song. Weakest were Mother’s Day, the open (too hamfisted and that wig made me want to barf but I guess that was the point), and the mother/daughter fight (although I loved the way he said “you blew my roommate!”).
It was such a treat seeing him so confident and easy with the sketches and actually having fun. I may watch that again tonight.

I think there’s a reason I block those toilet sketches out of my mind, lol. Too raunchy for me. 🤷🏻♀️

I haven’t watched SNL in ages, but I watched some of it tonight. The host was former cast member Kate McKinnon. In her monologue, she said it was hard for her to speak as herself rather than in character. She explained the the only times she had ever been in the show’s monologue was when she appeared as the “freak beside the hot person”. As examples, they showed us several photos - starting with Benedict, when she had come onstage as the Ancient One during his monologue! And the second photo was when Martin Freeman hosted the show. Ha!
