That skit seemed to be the one he was most comfortable with, and I think it’s because it was the most actorly of all of them, and there was some meat there to get into, an actual character he could develop. (Plus, throwing the globe was really hot.)🔥😂😍

Also, it was clearly pre-recorded so not live!

I just got an email with “Benedict” as the subject from a friend of mine. She wanted me to know that another friend of hers texted her that Benedict would be hosting SNL on May 7, and they wanted to make sure I knew about it. Ha! I guess it’s a bit embarrassing that friends, and friends of friends, think about me that way!
My friend just emailed me again:
You are one loyal fan. I hope Benedict appreciates your sacrifices! Ha!

I was noticed that our local paper had an article this week about Benedict hosting SNL! I guess it must really be big news (now I’m even more nervous for him!)

The Met Gala parody is a good idea! They also should use him in a political opening sketch playing Boris Johnson! He doesn’t look like him at all but his imitation the other day was spot on!
One thing I think they should had done the last time was something British! Maybe he wanted to play something different to himself but he needed to make fun of the perception of him as an actor by the audiences! The closest he did it was playing the Jeremy Irons kind of villain in that kind of Die Hard sketch (he was great but why he didn’t do his Alan Rickman? He is much more recognized as a Die Hard bad guy and his imitation of him is perfect! A lot of Americans doesn’t know he can do that and probably would had enjoyed it!) I haven’t watched that Bridgeton series but it’s popular and there is a Benedict there.
EDITED Seriously? Why he didn’t do any real imitation the last time! People loves that and he has a few good ones!

He has said he was pretty nervous the first time and it was noticeable in the monologue but he still did a good work acting the sketches. The problem was the material. He undoubtedly should be more relaxed now. That was the case with his red carpets in Hollywood: the first time he was there for the Emmys or the GG, I’m not sure, it was pretty awkward and there is a huge difference between his fist talk show (with the infamously difficult David Letterman) and his more recent new ones.
Also probably his input should be bigger now in the production of the show The writers work with the guests for ideas so they should be in that stage right now.

I thought in posting this SNL sketch parodying Wes Anderson because now BC as a link with both! (Also with kinda spooky movies 😉)
I think it is brilliant!
Anyway, which is your favorite SNL period? I probably would say the early ones and the ones in the 1990s with people like Will Farrell, Molly Shannon and Chris Kattan. Of course, I wasn’t around when it debuted but I actually have the first seasons on dvd because I love the Monty Peyton and they were frequent guests! They were savage then!
I also watched some old seasons in a retro cable channel years ago. I remember young Robert Downey Jr! I was surprised that he was a cast member then. It’s a very maligned period but I still found interesting that he never returned as a guest except for once! I recently watched his monologue when I was searching for Marvel guests and it was around the time his legal problems so I guess it was his all about his pr team trying to help him (he made fun of himself) but it’s fascinating that he never went after he was cast as Iron-Man. Lorne Michael clearly “helped” him once but probably they aren’t that close!
