Not sure if any of you saw this, I did a search on the forum before posting and didn't see anything, so my apologies if it's already been shared. Anyways - here's an awesome video of BC reading one of his fan's fanfics. I wish they would turn this into a series!

Yes, it was already posted, but that's ok!
It was posted April 7, in the thread Infinity War Press and Interviews.

Ah well, that's embarrassing. Shall I delete it?

No, it's not a problem! We repeat things here all the time - or I do, at least! There's no need to delete it.

Well, I'd missed it the first time round, so it was new to me. And fun to see.
Never having been any sort of aficionado of fan fiction, though, that effort certainly didn't do anything to make me think I've missed anything (lol!). It didn't say who the perpetrator was or anything, if genuine (surely, at least maybe, not), but how embarrassing to have had that read out!

Yay! I'm glad I benefited someone with that post then. I would hope that thy got the author's permission first. I probably would have give permission if it was mine, because I wouldn't have written that in seriousness, more just a bit of fun.

I'm guessing it wasn't a "real" fanfiction.

Yes, I would hope someone had written it specifically for that bit. It wasn’t the worst fanfic I’ve ever heard (not by a long shot), but if you’re dismissing fanfic as a category because of that, then you’re missing out. I’ve read tons of really excellent fan fiction that has blown my mind with its style, plotting, characterizations, etc. I just finished reading one last week that was a terrific Regency Sherlolly AU, and it was brilliant. Romantic, tense, hopeful. Did I say romantic? 😉 I was positively writhing on the ground by the end with nerves!
I like that fans can go to places the show can’t, fill in holes, offer scenarios I might not have thought of before, and continue the lineage of beloved characters.
I write fan fix, and I have to say I like it. My most recent fic is a Romantic Sherlolly thing that picks up after TFP. There’s even a little mystery. It’s gotten over 1700 hits on AO3, and I’m rather proud of it. Lots of good arguments, funny scenes, angst, slow burn, mentally tortured Sherlock with smut. Fun stuff, lol.
If anyone cares, it’s under my Tumblr handle of GarudaDreamsOfRain on AO3.

The thought crossed my mind that it was written for that purpose specifically, but I like it better thinking of it as if they actually picked someone's fanfic to read. The idea makes me smile.

It doesn't particularly amuse me to think they went reading lots of fanfics to pick one, because there's something not too terribly kind in that concept, given that they wanted something to parody. The delivery makes it quite amusing, but that piece certainly wasn't chosen because it was good, even if not the worst apparently (lol, per Queenzod). So I suspect it was either written to purpose like that or possibly more likely, heavily edited down, to effect. What there was of it, as short as it was too, didn't seem to me to be something that would work on the page very well. But then I've never indulged in fan fiction so I don't really know what gets included.
I've never visited your Tumblr thing, Queenzod, but I am quite curious re your fanfic. Out of curiosity, though, what is the name you use about? Garuda Dreams Of Rain inspires some lovely images but what's the origin of it?
