It really is amazing how much people in the UK are still obsessed with and defined by the class system.
If it isn’t upwardly mobile working class people trying to hide their humble roots, it’s posh people trying to pretend they’re more “common” than they actually are. Bizarre.
By the way Dominic West’s family may have been richer than BC’s but, by the byzantine framework of the UK class system, they’re not posher. BC’s father’s “old money” military and high ranking government officials background trumps DW’s “new money” factory owning father. Factory owners would be looked down on as “trade” & very much second tier by the traditional posh.
In the UK “posh” is not defined by how much money you have. It’s about the quality of yyour family’s credentials and how far back they can be traced. For example lots of the truly posh are now relatively poor whereas lots of the very rich will never be accepted as posh. That includes “posh spice.” 😀

I still have a doubt. Is Wanda Ventham "posh" or not? Do you become "posh" if you marry to a posh? It's all very confusing!

You may be accepted by some but there will always be those for whom you will be “non U” - Nancy Mitford’s famous phrase to describe people from “lesser” backgrounds. It means “non us.” See the snide comments about Kate Middleton’s family for evidence. Meghan Markle is now getting the same treatment. In her case she also has some BC style “septics” jumping on board too as Harry had quite the female following.

I don’t understand all the fuss about the class system or why class should matter when actors play roles. Not a single person anywhere else in the world cares one bit about an actor’s background.
I didn’t know who Dominic West was before seeing him in Pride. He received the most screams when he was introduced on stage at the TIFF premiere - after Andrew Scott, of course!

Agreed with MW, the only thing these "activists" are achieving is the cancelation of movies about minorities.
Anyway it seems Dominic West left the project, too.
