God I hope this gets released and does well. I love Ben's voice work.

The article says it's being released in October, so I'm hoping for a TIFF premiere in September. I just bought a membership for the first time, so I'll have the opportunity to buy tickets before they go on sale to the rest of the public. Of course, there's a hierarchy in the memberships, too. I bought the least expensive, but some memberships can cost thousands of dollars, and they get first pick of everything.

I wouldn't trust too much in The Mirror or any British tabloids with facts. Also festivals have committees that choose movies. It's just too early for them to have a line-up.

I don't see this movie going to TIFF.
Poor Andy Serkis!

Graham Norton was on television earlier, but I wasn't really paying attention because I don't like Mark Wahlberg. Then I suddenly noticed Andy Serkis on the couch too when he wasn't there to start with, and he was asked about The Jungle Book. I'm not sure he was too happy to talk about that when he was obviously there to promote the latest ape movie, but he confirmed it was still actively in production in a way that could suggest that maybe more input from the actors is still needed as well. He still said the cast were amazing, though, praising the boy playing Mowgli in particular and mentioning Christian Bale and BC. He also confirmed again that his film is MUCH darker than the Disney version and that it's being released some time next year. He either didn't remember the actual date of release or it might still be subject to amendment. Tom Holland, the new Spiderman, was there too, and he apparently auditioned for something for The Jungle Book, which was quite amusing. He'd read his lines, apparently, and been told that was fine, but had then been a little taken aback to be asked to do the same again but "as a wolf". His idea of doing it as a wolf, though, had apparently just been to put his hands up to his head and pretend he had ears. He didn't get the role. But Andy Serkis did impressively demonstrate how he impersonates an ape with arm extensions, and the difference re a chimp, and he had Tom Holland leaping about the stage after him as well.

When I read the Mowgli stories as a youth they scared the bejeebers out of me! I found the stories to be very dark and in some places sad. I don't associate them at all with the Disney characters because the book is my only source for the story (never seen the animated version).

Oh, I can not wait for this one!! I thought even the Disney one was a pleasant great surprise, and this is probably not even comparable.
