I don’t think the NYT realized that the Grinch is not a villain, lol.

He really disliked The Grinch and was one of the few that directly criticized BC for it. He kind of suggested that he didn’t even tried to do something like Boris Karloff because of course he wouldn’t can’t (be so scary? Threatening? Evil?) and I thought: C’mon. Karloff is great but if someone can be like him is BC! It’s just he didn’t want to do it this time! LOL So I kind of felt happy he wrote that about his Shere Khan! But yes, agreed that Illumination never intented to have an evil Grinch!!! I like this tweets: I have read a few tweets saying how “meh” the reviews are meanwhile they post images of RT number and I thought that’s why those reviews aggregators are stupid. The reviews are very mixed indeed but they aren’t “meh” at all! (But of course Film Twitter fans doesn’t read them because that’s not what they do! They just wait for the number!) I don’t know if I would like it but I’m genuinely intrigued by it! Probably it sounds crazy for RT and Metacritic fanatics but sometime a failed bonkers experiment is more interesting that harmless correctly made entertaining loved by everyone and their mothers. Also Digital Spy saying it was “savaged by critics” is a lie! I know it’s just them doing a pun with the headline but c’mon! (*Trump voice*) Fake news!!!

www.vulture.com/2018/11/mowgli-legend-of-the-jungle-review.htmlWhat a review! I thought the same: it really sounds as a movie trying to emulate good old children's literature. Those stories that were much more about horror than just harmless fun. I guess it's the total opposite not just of the Disney version but the even (I guess, I haven't seen it!) more innocent The Grinch!
