A Very English Sscandal is 2, so Killing Eve will be first.

So, child sexual abuse, neglect and victimization isn’t IMPORTANT? 😉 This is horrible but based in the early reception of this series, for identity politics it clearly depends to who it happens. There were tweets “criticizing” the series just because it was about a posh boy, a few of them clearly knew it was about sexual abuse or were informed but still he is posh so who cares if he was raped? I rarely do but actuality blocked some of them! I’m very middle super middle class but yes, I’m considered myself much more privileged than someone who suffered something like that and the series/books make you feel sick for “the privileged” British classes and their lifestyle. One of the early interviews described BC being angry because apparently the journalist suggested the rape wasn’t a big deal because the victim was posh. The guy didn’t have problem writing about it so not shame there! On the other hand, a lot of people doesn't know it was about child sexual abuse. Actually people who watched just the first episode sometimes doesn’t know it’s about sexual abuse! I thought it was silly but thinking about it if you aren’t familiar with the books how would you imagined (even if the clues are there) something so awful! The series wasn’t never publicized as an IMPORTANT series about child sexual abuse. And even when people think it’s horrible (as most decent people do!) and know what it was about, the theme is so horrible than maybe it’s ignored for other more cool easy to digest causes. The other example is The Tale with Laura Dern, also about child sexual abuse. In this case a non-British aristocrat but an American girl. It was acclaimed but, like PM, barely mentioned in award ceremonies. Of course, the theme is important but people who cares for IMPORTANT themes are actually the frivolous types who a)don’t watch productions when they seem difficult (remember Academy's members voting for 12 years a Slave but not watching it because it seemed important but dark); b) the true is that they don’t really care but they want to be seen as they care so they would talk about the “cool” cause but never about something that make people uncomfortable.
