I try not to buy them unless I absolutely have to, to conserve funds. But I’m thinking of getting The Grinch. I haven’t seen it yet, it looks very cute. It was already gone from the theaters here when I decided to go. 😕

It was good to see that no one particular show or movie swept all the awards. I like it when the awards are spread out. That way, even if they don’t win, they still feel like they had a real shot at it - as opposed to when a show starts winning every category and there’s no reason to even hope for an exception. I’m already tired of reading that Lady Gaga was “robbed” and should have won the acting award last night. We all know that only one robbed was Benedict. Ha! I think Gaga is talented as a musician, can’t speak to her performance because I haven’t seen ASIB, but I saw an interview with her on the red carpet yesterday that made my skin crawl. She was talking about how wonderful Bradley Cooper was, and told a story of her first day on set to illustrate. The behavior she described sounded unprofessional and emotionally manipulative- it was like watching an abused woman gushing about how wonderful her BF is because he tells her what to wear, who she can spend time with, and berates her and picks on her (appearance, weight, choice of words, music/fin choices, etc) to “help her” and “make her grow as a person “ It makes me never want to watch that film.

I haven’t watched it, either, and I have no desire to. I’ve seen bits of interviews with her and Bradley Cooper, and there was quite a lot of gushing over him. I thought it was because he was her director as well as her co-star. She’s a huge star and she sounded like she would have been a nobody if not for him.
Entertainment Tonight just started, and so far, they’re only talking about her - her dress, the awards she won and didn’t win, how other celebrities were excited to meet her. She does not need Bradley Cooper!

I honestly don’t know what BC has to do to win an award. He seems destined to always be a nominee but never a winner. Olivia Coleman on the other hand seems to just have to turn up to win an award. I just don’t get it. I think she is exactly the same in everything she does and a fairly average actress. Mind you I don’t really rate Meryl Streep either so my. “Award Radar” is obviously seriously deficient. 😀 Well, Richard Madden sent presents to all HFPA members and he not only got nominated but won. That is what you have to do to win: kiss their asses sending presents and going to their brunches. Sometimes the producers do the gifting. I just read some reactions to Madden not being nominated to the Emmys and some people are actually claiming he deserved the nomination just because he won the Golden Globe! I haven't watched Bodyguard so I'm not criticizing his performance, I'm sure he deserved some recognition, but yes, actors sometimes win awards just for doing good campaigns and everybody knows the Golden Globes voters are very easy to buy! The Emmys are far from perfect but, like the Oscars, they are much more difficult to court for the simple reason than there are too many members.
