Has anyone else watched Russian Doll on Netflix? I just finished it.
It had been described as kind of like Groundhog Day (one of my favourite movies). At first, I found myself struggling to be interested in what was happening to Nadia, but I stuck with it. She was too unlikable, and there was no reason for all the vulgarity other than to say “This is Netflix and not tv, so we can do and say anything!” It was starting to get really tedious. Just as I was considering not watching the rest, they brought in Alan and the show finally got interesting!
By the way, did Netflix change how they go from one episode to the next? During the end credits, they used to give a little countdown to the next episode, which would start automatically unless you stopped it. But it’s not like that any more. You have to click on the next episode for it to begin. Or maybe it’s a setting I can change?

I watched it and liked it very much. The episodes are 30min long, so 3 episodes isn't a big deal to build the story. I bingwatched on a weekend. The only part a bit boring is when they show her dying in a row, I don't know how many times.
I loved the ending, the parade thing was so amazing. I read that parades are a common thing in NY.
I'm intrigued by Horse, what does he represent?
I've read a comment on how things were getting difused when time passed by like the details on the russian dolls when they get smaller and smaller. I read that in a different way. Nadia and Alan had to go more and more into themselves to find themselves and a meaning to their lives.

I liked that the episodes were short, but it still took nearly half of them for the story to become really interesting. Nadia has so much screen time and just became irritating to me. I was reading some comments about it on twitter yesterday, and there were others who reacted the way I did - they came around to liking it in the end, too.
I think I just have a huge problem with characters that I have to spend time with who I don’t really like. I kept thinking of Patrick Melrose - we spent the entire first episode with him alone and in his head, and yet I still cared about him even as he behaved badly.
