It's one of my favourite performances of BC's! But not only that it's such a gorgeous production! The dance/songstress scene still moves me to tears!

This was the first non-Sherlock thing I saw him in. (Actually, I had seen Amazing Grace before Sherlock, but I didn’t know who Benedict was at the time). I went through his list of roles on IMDB, and started looking them up. I tracked down To The Ends of the Earth on Daily Motion. But it was in 20-minute segments, so it took me forever to get through it!

I love the ugliness of it. It's almost an anti-PBS's Masterclass! In the first scene you have a pretty young BC in his top hat suggesting it's just another nice BBC "prestige" period piece but then it comes the vomit, the ugly sex, the awful bullying, etc. I like to think it predicted BC's subtle subversiveness!

There are so many great scenes (along with the overall complexity of the theme developed throughout the film).
Another sentimental favourite of mine is when Miss Graham is administering aid to Talbot's "war wound". He is so pitifully vulnerable and totally misconstrued her gentle kindness.
What an absolute marvelous character to play - arrogant, vulnerable, carnal, eloquent, snobbish and much much more!

Ah, you get a foreshadow of what’s to come when he pulls up to the docks in the opening shots and the once pristine window of his carriage is caked with mud and feces flung up on the journey from the road. One of my very favorite shows he’s made. Everyone in it is perfect, from the prickly governess to Sam Neill as the radical. Even the Rev. Mr. Colley brings up some empathy. Sublime stuff, and BC really holds his own, carrying the huge weight of the production on his sun-kissed shoulders. 😍

I liked very much that series. I don't understand why it isn't more known and loved.
It was really well done.
I watched it, like mllmass, on vimeo or youtube. It's on Amazon now.
