Dan MacRae is a The Electrical Life of Louis Wain producer. David Quantick, who does the sarcastic comment here, wrote a graphic series about Louis Wain's life for Alan Moore's magazine which it seems was kind of dark (even when Wain's work was colorful. It's not a criticism, of course! I don't criticize things I haven't watched! I'm not a fool! 😉)

I was thinking his sister, the one who he had the closest relationship, played in the movie by Andrea Riseborough, died of the flu during the 1918 pandemic! So yeah, it's very topical film!

It's nice to see Studiocanal promoting it so much (especially if it's true they will release it until the last part of the year!). Very different to The Courier!

They said they wanted to released it at the last part of the year so it seems too early for a trailer.
Probably, they are just officially releasing the photos they send to British magazines and doing some very early promotion. It's still nice and interesting. It kind of suggest they really have faith on it.

I just found a stupid Reddit forum in which a few idiots are criticizing the movie without having watching it or even know what it's about but I loved that the answers to a guy saying that BC only plays real historical characters were people claiming that Dr. Strange, Sherlock Holme, Khan and the wolf from Penguins of Madagascar are all real historical figures!
By the way, yes it's mainly about white people but a few of the historical characters aren't actually played by whites. Also the director is half Japanese so yes, it's diverse
We don't know how wacky or original it will be but all people involved say it's not a conventional bio.
The filmmaker and the producers (particularly BC's own production company) actually have experience working with difficult mental health thematic and both parties have been acclaimed by expertise for the results. Watch Patrick Melrose and Flowers if you can!
No, Louis Wain wasn't a posh aristocrat. He was a poor Catholic guy with some mental health issues that ended institutionalized in a pauper asylum. The photos look too bright and colorful for this story? Sure, that was his artistic style and clearly they are trying to capture that on those images. You know like Patrick Melrose's pastel colors "hiding" a drug and sexual abuse thematic or the sitcom style of Flowers "hiding" the complexity of depression.
And yes, BC didn't write nor directed nor produced The Imitation Game so no, he isn't responsible for any wrong historical impressions you saw on it. But Alna Turing's nieces and nephew claims he was spot in his interpretation. Actually the niece and a co-worker who were very critical with poor Kiara Knightley casting (they both said she was just too pretty and charismatic for the role) said BC was perfect and that he did a great work with the accent and the subtle stutter. There aren't recordings of Turing's voice but they said that he somehow achieved it. So if you actually worry about correct historical representation, he actually did his work! Also it's impossible to know what was the real affection of Louis Wain so you can't criticize as ahistorical whatever they chose to represent.
We have to wait and see what happens with it but the thing that sounds exciting for me, apart of BC, is the acclaim behind the short and almost unknown career of Will Sharpe. I mean, Paul Thomas Anderson is a fan! But social media Film is just too frivolous and closed minded to be interested in the career of someone who comes from TV. Ironically, as the great Jane Campion said, it's on TV where more daring things are happening but hey, there is another new Tarantino movie that looks exactly as the old one! Who cares for new talent?
But yeah, who knows? We won't know until this is released!

I think they want to take advantage of the cute/funny cat trend right now, so why not show us a little clip at least? People will see the adorable cats and look forward to seeing the movie eventually.

I just saw a comment (in Spanish) on Twitter claiming he is playing "another" aristocrat and a few fools agreeing. Louis Wain wasn't an aristocrat! The poor guy wasn't even rich! Wait a minute: he is wearing a top hat! I think he is playing a king or a prince! Lol.
