Luigi Boccherini's wonderful La Musica Notturna Delle Strade di Madrid, Absolutely LOVE it! It's not "playing" per say - it's going in an endless loop in my head. Only I can hear it.😊

For my train ride today, I brought along my little iPod - those tiny things that Apple stopped making. I hadn’t listened to it in years, and I forgot what was on it. Today, I discovered that my little iPod has the complete soundtracks to Love, Actually, Brokeback Mountain, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat (Donny Osmond version), and Phantom of the Opera. The iPod also has entire albums by Andrea Bocellli, Keane and The Bay City Rollers. Plus, there were other random songs in there. I’m sure I thought I was putting individual songs on it when I was putting whole albums on instead. That’s the reason I stopped using it. When I had tried to put more songs on it, it told me that there wasn’t enough space. No wonder, with all those albums! So I put it away, disgusted, and didn’t give it another thought until today.

Cabin Pressure- Xinzhou! One of my favourite episodes! I find it hysterically funny, even after I’ve listened to it a thousand times.

Birds and chipmunks outside our bedroom window. What sound do chipmunks make? I know the cartoon chipmunks talk and sing, but live ones? I actually commented yesterday that I’ve been seeing a lot of chipmunks lately, and I don’t remember that happening before. If I saw one a year, I would have been surprised. At first I wondered if it was just the same chipmunk I was seeing over and over, but I doubt that they travel around the city like that!

Chipmunks make a high pitched squeaky "chipping" sound. And they can go on for HOURS!
Researchers aren't quite sure just why they make this sound (it doesn't seem to be a mating call, nor a sign of warning against predators, etc.). They seem to just do it randomly.
And it is VERY loud!
We have had tons of chippies in our yard ever since we moved here 27 years ago.
Chipmunks in the wild live 2 to 3 years but if conditions are ideal then they can live up to 8 years. Some of our chippies have lived about 4 years - I know this because one fellow had a "shorten" tail (we called him "Stumpy"), so he was easy to identify each year.
This year we had up to 5 chipmunks living in our yard almost all summer long. That's quite a high number for such a small territory. Usually we have about 3 max.
I've done quite a bit of research about them because I am fascinated by them! They're one of my favourite animals! Dan loves them too. He isn't a big fan of cats and always chases them out of the yard to protect our chippies and the birds, which he also loves.
Mostly Dan and I just let them live on their own but some years I have trained them to eat out of my hand and climb up into my lap!
They are amazing creatures!

One of the most precious sights is seeing baby chipmunks "pups" when they are just old enough to leave the burrow with their mum.
Twice we have seen these VERY young chippies in our yard. The first time it was early spring and a group of them were brought up from below by their mum for the first time. We discovered them huddled together in a ball to keep warm in the grass right by the entrance of the burrow. I didn't know at first what exactly this small brown coloured "mound" was out in the grass but when I examined it with binoculars I discovered it was moving - really just kind of squiggling around a bit more than going anywhere - and when I was focused I saw it was about 4 baby chipmunks! The mum was keeping a sharp eye on the group, popping up every few seconds to check on them and after a couple of minutes she gathered each one up and took them back into the burrow.
The second occurrence was that we saw a mum leading her two babies (this was years later after the "baby ball" occurrence) for one of their first journeys. They were really, REALLY small! About the size of your finger from the tip to the first digit (an inch approximately).
The little ones couldn't even jump over the height of our garden hose! And they kept bumping into their mum's butt!
I remember just before I retired someone asked me how I was going to stay occupied and I answered "no problem at all! We have chipmunks and I could just sit and watch them forever!".
After 27 years I never tire of watching them and they always bring a smile to my face when I see them!
