Talking about the press “obsessed” with Method acting and fabricating things about actors using it!
Because after the reporting of BC’s so called Method acting, I totally believe they are fabricating things about this guy, too.
I haven’t read the original piece. I knew there was a scandal and people were criticizing him. This in part because I read a comment on Twitter by someone probably with agenda saying that BC’s “antics” were even worse than Strong’s (and that they didn’t worked because his new movie was bad anyway!). It was below an article on The Guardian apparently criticizing Method actors that I just now refuse to read because I wont give clicks to liars and I’m sure that if they mention BC they would forget to say that his “antics” are actually Jane Campion’s antics.

I was also thinking on the Brian Cox’s quote because it reminds me to a quote on Norman Lloyd autobiography that I also reminded meanwhile reading A.O. Scott essay about the best performances in 2021. Scott said that in his friend’s book it is explained that the original Method acting was something not unhealthy or insane but something really constructive (I’m paraphrasing!) and the total opposite of the thing ignorant modern pseudo Method actors from today do but that wasn’t Lloyd impression in the 1930s when the Method arrived to New York! He as Cox though was worried for his fellow actors and thought it was something extreme that could damage those who practiced it. This again in the 1930s! He was talking about the originals not about Jared Leto injecting himself with Italian food ingredients (and obvious joke reported as a fact by the brilliant, brave and mature press determined to expose Method actors!).

More about it, a lot of journalists and serious critics aren’t happy with big stars defending this guy. I would be with them if those stars were trying to censor the piece but it doesn’t seem that’s the case. I tend to agreed with this,
If you know the guy and think that piece mischaracterized him why you shouldn’t defend your friends? Even if you are powerful. The issue would be using your power to silence the other but the you shouldn’t talk even if you are saying the truth because you are powerful is stupid. Also they are considered that reputation is kinda important for Hollywood actors. I haven’t read the article so I can’t give an opinion about it. Maybe it was more respectful that what Twitter suggested but I agreed that a lot of those now outraged with actors reactions were convinced that the article make him look like a nasty person.
