Justin Kurzel career is surprisingly very short. I have heard his name a lot so I thought he would had directed more films. It seems his debut film made a huge impact and he was immediately hired by and for Fassbender’s star vehicles. Sadly, they didn’t work as expected: Macbeth was very well received by critics but it wasn’t financially successful and Assassin’s Cred just didn’t work AT ALL. He returned just two years ago with the last Kelly gang film and even more successfully with the very acclaimed but polemic Nitram.
it’s curious that both his debut film and his newest one are about real life killers. That’s why they were very polemic and at least the oldest one was very gory, according to articles.
Based on images, he is a very visual filmmaker and that’s always important. His negative reviews seems to be about script issues so hopefully the new script is so strong like those friends of the scriptwriter claim it is.

I somehow missed this whole thread, so I'm just learning about this project now! I love how he does such a variety of work. This decription reminds me of an interesting concept movie, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or something. Sometimes Laura Dern gets on my nerves (Wild at Heart), but not in anything recent.

I don’t think I have ever watched something by this director but I understand he is much darker and violent than Michel Gondry, who is very whimsical IMHO.
I think it sounds great. Hopefully, it happens soon.

It seems Ackie was asked about the project, www.elle.com/uk/life-and-culture/culture/a42877814/naomi-ackie-screening-event-i-wanna-dance-with-somebody-bafta/Sadly, they didn’t included the quote! She is doing press for her Whitney Houston movie so probably she will be asked about it again. By the way, she was wonderful in The End of the F…ing World. I think the first season was much better because the plot kinda went all over the place and TBH Ackie’s character didn’t make too much sense but she still was great and gave it some logic and depth to it. It’s kinda mind blowing that the same actress playing the awkward psycho in this also plays Houston! (Forbes work was also pretty good. The series in general continued to be entertaining and well filmed but the plot wasn’t too focused like in the first season. It seems to me the plan was to end the storyline in just one season)
