I don't think it is a "make or break" issue that someone look exactly like the person they are portraying. Look at Anthony Hopkins in Stone's Nixon. He didn't really look like "Tricky Dick" but he had the mannerisms/voice down pat!
All they have to do is get it in the "ballpark" so to speak (as far as looks go) and then their transformational skills as an actor can do the rest.
Now the REAL question is... does TC have the acting chops to BE Bob Dylan? That's what I'm more interested in.
If he performs like he did in Dune Pt 1, I'd say NOOOOOOO!
But who knows? Maybe he CAN mumble and have a nasal "singing" voice?
I like biopic, so I'll still be interested in seeing this (though not nearly as much as if BC were in it!!). Not a big fan of TC, but the subject will be the main driver for me to watch it.

Honestly, I don’t think he has the chops to do Dylan, but I’ll also watch this when it hits the telly. I’m very disappointed we don’t get BC as PS, though. God, he would have been PERFECT.
I don’t remember this split irl. 1965, right? I was 8 and had no idea who any of these folk hippies were, lol, but I do remember hearing the Everly brothers on the radio. But I’m also interested in this now. We’ll see how TS does.

The morning tv news show here talked about this movie during their entertainment segment. They showed the same photos that were posted here. Afterwards, though, one of the hosts said “I’m not sure about Timothee Chalamet.” When no one jumped in to defend TC, the host continued “I’m sure he’s a charming young man, but . . .”
Ha!

I am not his fan but I think it’s kinda silly to criticize him without actually watching the performance. The same with people attacking the genre (bio) without knowing if it will work or not.

I’m someone who totally judges movies by the actors in it, so I can understand having doubts.
There are actors that I’ll happily watch in anything, and there are actors that I refuse to watch in anything. Sure, maybe it’s unfair, but a lot of people judge movies by their action scenes or special effects or other nonsense.

Haha I admit to being a person who prejudges movies by who’s in them. My mind can be swayed by a good plot or genre, good reviews, good production values, etc., but I need something in order to watch Nicole Kidman, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, and several others. 😅

Usually when I judge an actor in a role I've not seen, it's because I have seen them in at least one previous work and wasn't impressed.
Nicholas Cage, Keanu Reeves, and duffers like Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey - YUCK! I'd rather eat broken glass and chase it down with kerosene, than watch one of their movies.
I've given them a chance - one chance - and I haven't found a scintilla of interesting acting in any of them.
I saw Timothy C. in Dune Part 1 and that was it for me. I have a bias against him but I might be convinced to still watch the Dylan biopic because... 1) I LOVE biopics! 2) there might be some other elements that draw me too it (like the writing/other actors/ director, etc.)
So I'll give it a chance.

I guess one of the positive things about BC leaving this project is that we don’t have to read all the negativity around it! It’s amazing how people are attacking this project not just here but everywhere! lol
Again, the book and the story it will tell is actually very interesting. It’s not even the classical musician biography! And, at least until now, Chalamet is a big It boy. People (including me!) were cynical about his Willy Wonka but it was a huge hit and he had another big hit after it with Dune II so he is in a winning streak. It could suddenly change, of course, but it seem he is good choosing successful projects so we will see.

I can see that he wants to be taken seriously as a character actor but I just see him as a young dude bro, lol. He might be like Keanu, where he’s uneven and needs a particular role to really shine (CMBYN), or maybe I need to watch him with more seriousness. When I get home I’ll watch Wonka and see how that goes. I am very interested in the material for this movie, though. I love this time period.
