I don’t find him credible in period films like Little Women or The French Dispatch. I know CMBYN, in which he was sublime, is period but, I don’t know, I consider the 1980s modern times maybe because I was born by then! 😉 Anyway, I think teenagers in the 1980s had more similarities with today’s kids than with 19 Century youngsters!
We will see with Dylan but he was basically a slightly idealistic teen like Chalamet’s 1960s character in The French Dispatch but much more cynical. He really wanted to be a huge rock star and was incredibly ambitious while, at the same time, he was just a silly kid. I think that’s visible in the Don’t Look Back documentary. He and the boys were basically the dumb young rock stars while poor Joan Baez was trying to be serious! So who knows, maybe he can pull it off! And if not, it probably doesn’t matter: I haven’t watched Wonka but he seemed so out of place in the trailers but critics and public still loved him!

I just saw that Deadline just retweeted the photo and I’m thinking that on one hand, it’s great we don’t have to see the negative attitude by Film Twitter about the film but on the other hand, this movie is receiving a lot of attention when we are desperate for more BC’s news! lol I mean Deadline didn’t post the TTWF photos!
Anyway, I can’t wait to next Friday!

Have to say I was impressed with Chalamet in Wonka. I hadn’t expected to be and in fact had no intention of seeing the movie. But I got inveigled into it as part of a Christmas family outing. I was very pleasantly surprised. The film was enjoyable and TC was really very good in the role. I didn’t much like him in Little Women. But that was because I thought he looked much too young for the role of adult Laurie. He wasn’t because he would have been in his mid 20s when LW was made but he looked about 16. He still does look very young for his age. It will be interesting to see how his career develops as he gets and looks older. The Dylan biopic could be an important role for him in the path to being seen as more than a teenage hearthrob.

Yep, he looks weird and nothing like Pete Seeger,
Definitely, Chalamet looked much better like Dylan! Even if he wasn’t 100% right (no one could be!) he, at least, looked natural!

He looks horrible!
And last year they complained about Bradley Cooper because of the nose.

The nose wasn’t THAT bad. The problem is that a few saw antisemitism because it was slightly bigger than the real thing but it didn’t looked THAT unnatural
I agree that BC is head is more similar to Pete Seeger’s so he wouldn’t had to wear THAT! But probably it would had been better to let Norton to look like him than trying to make him look like someone with a very different head!

She looks good although the real life Baez had a more baby face. I saw another Chalamet photo today and he also looked great and even sexy. Much better than his normal self and I don’t understand what they did to poor Edward Norton!
EDITED Sorry! I am seeing you already posted Chalamet photo! lol I saw it yesterday but I thought it was really Sessa!

Not familiar with this actress but on first glance I think she has way too refined features for Baez. Joan B. had very broad features (wide mouth, longer face and larger nose). This actress has a much rounder face and really small mouth and is missing Baez's deep smile.
She just seems to be lacking the intensity of Baez's gaze.
I would never have thought she was playing Baez from those shots.
