I think SAG will easily follow. IMHO it was slightly more complex with WGA because the room minimum which it was much more controversial. Apart of that, AI and streaming numbers/residuals were something shared with actors and whatever it was decided yesterday it set a precedent. As the writers going to strike was a precedent for actors.

So apparently Mike White must hire other two guys as writers for future White Lotus! I still think it was a very anti-art demand but hopefully it really helps unemployed American writers to find jobs. That was the objective! (Some think that it will be less shows produced so at the end, even less available jobs for everyone) Still, I’m glad British TV isn’t about showrunners and writer’s rooms!

This is also pretty anti-art, doesn’t? x.com/bendreyfuss/status/1706842640187334718?s=61&t=zPi8LNXgo1ojcMDphmjG3gWell, I guess it will mainly affect shitty franchises and stupid comedies! It will be interesting to see what actors get about this issue. AI, clearly, won’t be banned so hopefully they get total rights about their own images but it’s pretty discouraging that it’s a thing! I mean, I understand why writers accepted it: money is money and a job is a job but it’s still shitty and, again, totally anti-art.

I remember a discussion about this, x.com/thr/status/1708335782195552438?s=61&t=zPi8LNXgo1ojcMDphmjG3gSome writers were sure the studios returned to the negotiations table because this law. A few didn’t seemed to understand that it needed to be approved by the governor, too (like all laws in the democratic world!) but after someone pointed that it surely will be vetoed, they automatically accused the person of working for studios. Twitter kinda influence political discourse but I guess there is a limit when it is about to affects a state’s finances! Of course, it would be vetoed! The crazy thing was that it was first approved by the legislature! Anyway, the good news is that Hollywood strikes are about to end. I also hope the hotel workers get a good deal.

Yesterday’s failure in the negotiations was earlier reported by one of the journalists who received a lot of flak by writers for his reporting and guess what? He received more flak! *Facepalm* Basically, they called him liar but clearly he was right.
Hopefully, it’s resolved quickly. According to SAG itself, it wasn't just that. They are also fighting for some details about AI.

Good! I was getting really tired of actors showing up on talk shows to promote the books they suddenly decided to write during the strike. That way, they could promote their books and NOT the movies/shows they’re famous for.

Ha! I sympathized with the AI demand. It sounded awful! Hopefully, they fixed it! The writers practically accepted it so long they were paid (even when machines would do their jobs!) so why not pay to the actors for using their images to perpetually!
