Didn't some writer recently tweet that he'd been employed to work on "Dr Strange." Sorry to be so vague but that's all I remember. I assumed that meant he was working on the sequel.

I'm probably alone in this, but I'd like to see more Sherlock before I see more Doctor Strange. I don't think they should rush with getting a sequel out. I'd prefer to have him do lots of different roles so that he's known as that great Oscar-winning actor who also plays a superhero once in a while! You're not alone - I certainly think they will do another DS in the future but I have no hankering for it to be out really soon (but part of this is because I am not really into comic book/superhero movies). But where I differ from you millemass is it definitely doesn't have to be more Sherlock for me. I really think he will be doing all those SunnyMarch projects before doing a sequel to DS and that is exactly the type of film and TV work I want to see him in (book adaptations for films, mini-series, one-offs, etc.), and maybe some more Shakespeare, and I would also like to see him do another play on the London stage (even though that would be something I wouldn't be able to see for myself) before doing another DS solo movie. If, down the line, somewhere in the far off future, he did another Sherlock special (a one-off) that would be OK too, but to be going back to another season of Sherlock in 2 years or so - I don't think that would be something he really needs for right now (and I certainly felt fully happy at the end of this past season to let that character go - in my own mind). In fact doing more Sherlock would be something that felt too safe of a choice for him. Let's see more different characters from him - he has such range... let him stretch and find something new. :-))

I don't remember that. With all the other projects he has lined up now with SunnyMarch I find that a bit (pardon the pun) - strange. LOL! Maybe you could find a source for that info? :-))

I'm not rushing them, just think it's odd that nothing official has been said, when films just released this summer have the opening dates for their sequels announced already. They could say "coming Nov. 2030!" and that's fine with me. (Well, maybe not quite that long. ) But Sgev's post makes sense, probably they can't do that, because the knowledge that Dr. S. is returning must be some kind of spoiler.

I'm in no rush for more Sherlock - we're used to waiting patiently! I'm just worried that too much Doctor Strange too soon will get him known as just another a superhero actor. I actually liked when people only knew him from Sherlock because it was (and is) considered such a fabulous role.
Doctor Strange gets him more exposure, but he'll never win an Oscar for it, no matter how good he is in it.

I'm just worried that too much Doctor Strange too soon will get him known as just another a superhero actor Going on a little different and more in-story tangent, maybe there's a similar reason Marvel don't have anything scheduled in the Fall of 2018. The Infinity War movies are May 2018 and May 2019, so maybe they are avoiding having a one-off film for any heavily involved character in those movies in-between. It would probably be a bit weird for the continuity and the general flow of the story if they had like have Doctor Strange/Captain America/Iron Man/whoever in the middle of an Avengers storyline with an individual film crammed in the middle.

Ellie that fellow is someone who writes the comic books. To me, I interpreted his excitement as being taken on board by Marvel Comics to write the Dr. Strange comic books, not anything to do with the Dr. Strange movies.
His whole twitter is just about comic books and his amazon author page is just comic books as well.
Granted he used BC gif in his tweet and that could be confusing at first glance.
:-))

Oh. Ok. I know nothing about comic books. I thought he was talking about scripts. Thanks for the info.

Doctor Strange gets him more exposure, but he'll never win an Oscar for it, no matter how good he is in it. True, he will never get a nomination for any mainstream movie awards (like Oscars or GG, or BAFTAS) for his work with Marvel (well maybe not ever, but highly unlikely). With the amount of projects he has currently lined up (and rumoured to be actively pursuing) I don't think there is any way he would be known as just another superhero actor, honestly. He has so many it is hard to keep track of them! LOL! The Current War, The Child in Time, the Grinch remake, Jungle Book movie, Patrick Melrose mini-series, for the confirmed ones and How to Stop Time, Rogue Male, Rio, The Man in the Rockefeller Suit and The End We Start From for the future prospects (whew! did I miss any?!?) I think he will definitely viewed as an actor with a varied repertoire. Especially if the Oscar talk for The Current War holds up. And I think the Melrose series or The Child in Time could also get some notice at the Emmys or Baftas in the future too. :-))
