I think it deserved its own thread.

I suppose it's good for marketing but if I were BC I would give BAFTA the cold shoulder - just like they do to him when it comes to awards time. But I guess he might aswell make use of them for his benefit.

Of course, it's because he is busy but I remember he did it for Sherlock series one and two but not after them. Maybe I'm wrong! Anyway in recent times he is always doing something else as he probably would be at the time of this event (Patrick Melrose) but this project is undoubtedly very important for him and his company. I doubt it will be massive considering the source and the theme but a good critical reception should be enough for them.

But I guess he might aswell make use of them for his benefit. You are absolutely right in saying it is good for marketing, so I doubt he would even consider giving BAFTA the cold shoulder. I am pretty sure that he would participate if he is able to when the time comes. Not only is it probably good for future SunnyMarch endeavours but I also think BC himself is bigger than to be so petty as to purposely ignore an organization like BAFTA if they were offering to hold a Preview and Q&A for this project, when he is probably fully aware that other people, who have worked just as hard as him on this, would like the exposure that his presence at this event would bring. After all BC isn't the only person involved in TCIT - there are plenty of people whose names are attached to it for all sorts of contributions and wouldn't like if someone of his stature took out his personal grievances towards BAFTA (if he indeed even has any) and snubbed offered publicity of a work they all are undoubtedly proud of. He strikes me as a very collegial type of guy and isn't someone to think of just how something affects only him. :-))

Yes I am aware of all of those things Roverpup. And perhaps BC is as you depict him - being above such human frailties as to want to give the virtual finger to an organisation that has repeatedly snubbed him. However I suspect the thought may well have crossed his mind before he considered the bigger picture. But neither of us know him well enough to speak with authority about what he's really like so we will have to agree to differ on our speculations. 😄

I can see him being privately very pissed at BAFTA (after all, he has a famous temper), but putting that aside for the sake of The Work. It would be foolish of him to pass up all those networking possibilities just because the organization refuses to acknowledge his brilliance. He's got a head on those shoulders and is in it for the long haul. God knows what the truth is. Maybe he really doesn't mind. If that's the case, he really would be the humblest person on the planet, lol. But he does have a touch of ego, too. He has to have to have gotten as far as he has. Maybe he's just circumspect about his losses.
