Someone watched it? I watched the 2 hours first episode a long time ago and I thought it was great. I’m watching the rest right now. I’m on episode 10.
It made me laugh that THR has it in their list of the worst TV shows in 2017! Ironically, there was a polemic a few weeks ago because Cahiers du Cinema named it the best film of the year (because it’s for TV not because the quality) so I guess it’s great for cinema but awful for TV!
Jennifer Jason Leigh is in it. She of course will play Eleanor Melrose in Patrick Melrose with BC. Also for Showtime.

I barely got through the second season of the original, so didn't bother with the new one.

The original was must-see TV when it first aired. If you didn't watch it, you were left out of all the conversations the next day. Besides being different and weird, it was almost like a miniseries. Usually, if a show was a hit, they kept it going forever, but this came to an end. I loved the show. Still, I had no interest in watching it when they brought it back.

I watched the original way back when and liked it. It was suitably “Lynch creepy” but I never saw the sequel.
I heard about the new version but haven’t seen it. I really don’t think that story needs to be told again.

I just finished the marathon! It’s surrealist, funny, silly and melodramatic. Of course! I still think the true masterworks are the first 2 hours episode and the very surrealist episode 8. It’s Lynch in his creepiest!
There are a lot of if not famous at least recognizable actors doing small parts, including Jason Leigh and thanks to coolclearwater I couldn’t stop noticing her “sulkiness”! 😉 But it doesn’t matter because the role kind of asked for it. She and Tim Roth played a couple of white trash hired killers that seems to have escaped from a Tarantino movie (they talks romantically to each other, fight and eat and talk a lot about fast food). She also looks very young. In some recent interviews is clear she uses Botox or something but on screen she looked great so I still think she would be perfect for Eleanor because she looks like a credible mother of a 5 years old but also because she kind of specialized in those dumb but dangerous women. In Patrick Melrose she wouldn’t be white trash, of course, but maybe more a little like her role in Agniezka Holland’s Washington Square adaptation mixed with the awfulness of her psychopaths!

I heard about the new version but haven’t seen it. I really don’t think that story needs to be told again. I've only seen the first season of the original Twin Peaks so I can't be 100% sure, but I'm pretty certain it's a continuation not a remake.

Yes, it’s a new season. It continues the story of Agent Cooper and co., 25 years later.
I don’t think I watched all the episodes of the two early seasons but I watched the movie. I don’t remember too much about them! Still I didn’t have problem to understand this one. At least, the parts we humans can understand in Lynch’s works! 😉
