Don't know if there are other fans of this series on the board but if you are and you haven't heard the broadcast of the new series starts Monday, February 27th at 9 pm. on ITV. The 8 episode season will conclude on April 17th. It looks like it will be on BBC America as well but I don't have the particulars on that because I am not American and don't have cable. If you haven't seen the first two sets of episodes it is on Netflix (in Canada) so you could watch the past ones (16 in all) and catchup in time to see the new ones. I really like David Tennant and Olivia Colman. I will be seeing David Tennant in a play in London later on this year so I am very excited to see his return to the show Broadchurch. :-))

I'm really looking forward to watching this. I loved Broadchurch! I have no idea why they felt the need to make an American version of it.

I didn't realise they have made an American version of it Mllemass. Is it called Broadchurch or something different? It was called Gracepoint, and it was on FOX. I don't think it did very well, because they never brought it back for season 2. I only watched the first episode. David Tennant starred in it, but with an American accent. His partner was played by the actress who played the wife in Breaking Bad. At the time, a lot of people questioned why it needed an American remake, and I think FOX said that Americans have trouble understanding accents other than American. How ridiculous!

I haven't watched the American version (Gracepoint), but I read that it has a different ending to season 1 than Broadchurch. Interestingly, that is exactly how I was expecting Broadchurch S1 to end. So that almost makes me want to watch it! But not enough to do it really, although I do like Anna Gunn a lot since Breaking Bad is my all-time favorite TV sohw. Anyways I love Broadchurch, it's wonderful, I'm so happy series 3 will be on air soon. David Tennant is great in the show, my favorite performance of his and I love the character of DI Hardy. He hits like all my likes for fictional male characters: damaged, vulnerable, scruffy. Oh and Olivia Colman is amazing too, especially near the end of S1. They have amazing chemistry, Colman and Tennant. Interestingly, the creator/writer of Broadchurch (Chris Chibnall) will be replacing Moffat as the Doctor Who show-runner next year. Winds of change! As to the accents, well. For whatever reason sometimes the subtitles on my Netflix don't work that well, they lag. It happened to me with Broadchurch and I had to stop watching it until it was fixed cause I missed like 80% of what Tennant said lol. But that's not a reason to remake it, can't people read subtitles?! I remember in Switzerland they always had subtitles in Québécois stuff, both on French-speaking Swiss channels and the French ones.

I loved S1 of Broadchurch, but didn't make it through more than an episode or 2 of S2, even though Tennant and Colman are fantastic. I don't know why, I just couldn't get into it. Is it worth picking it back up again, starting back on S2?
To this day, random bits of dialog from S1 pop into my head, such as "Do I irk you, Miller?"

In the 2nd one there was this storyline that imho was drawn out and took too long, and a few characters I could have done without. But there's some great stuff there. I personally preferred the more upbeat Miller to the morose Hardy, but it's still interesting to see Miller try to {Click to Show - series 1 spoilers} navigate her new life when everything's fallen apart . And we learn more about Hardy's past in Sandbrook which is definitely interesting!

Oh, great topic! I love Broadchuch and I am really looking forward to seeing the third season whenever that is (no access to ITV or american channels)! I did like season one more than two, but I did enjoy them both.

Broadchurch is great! One of the best TV series of the decade (after Sherlock, of course, but then the formula is different!). I've re-watched it recently with my daughter and she was impressed, as well. I do agree the second season is a bit contrived, but still a very good television.
