I'm putting this here because there are too many threads mentioning him and I'm lazy. The Guardian

Yay! That is good news, even if it's taken too long to get here.
I spent a while yesterday reading about the allegations about Morgan Freeman. He gave one of those "if I offended anyone" apologies, which mean nothing. People are naturally coming to his defence because of his age - just leave the old man alone! But his behaviour towards women didn't begin at age 80. If it did, then there might be an explanation for it (e.g. he doesn't really know what he's saying or doing). But even then, my father is 84, and he ever spoke that way to a woman he would never hear the end of it from me, my mother and my sister.
Entertainment Tonight did a story about MF last night, and they showed video clips of past interviews where his behaviour was disgusting. Those poor women interviewing him just smiled uncomfortably at his remarks, while he acted like he was being a suave ladies' man. Those clips were never shown when the interviews originally aired, although they were caught on camera and he knew that the cameras were rolling.
Can men just get it into their heads that women are not flattered by the dirty comments they make, and they're even more grossed out when old men say them? Someone on Twitter yesterday suggested that there are women who would have liked MF's comments. Who are these women? I would like just one to come forward and identify herself!

I get so sad when another man I like gets accused of being an asshole. But it’s good. I think some men are finally beginning to understand what it’s been like for women all these centuries, and that gives me hope. It’s forcing them to actually think about it. I guess we can thank Harvey and Bill Cosby (in addition to the many women strong enough to speak out), for being such colossal abusers that the depths of their horrible depravity has brought to light this nasty behavior.

I saw a quote somewhere recently: "remember 15 years ago, when RDJ was a bad person and Bill Cosby was a good person?"

TBH It’s not a surprise. I mean he obviously is guilty but that trial was a mess! It was predicted since then that he will easily appealed it. The surprise is that it took a lot of time l. I don’t know. Maybe because the pandemic or because the hate towards him was a lot but he has the best lawyers and the process was a pretty flawed: they basically used non formal accusers because the ones who sued him didn’t have too strong cases.
Anyway, it’s pretty sad that he is getting away with it but the fiscal and judge have a lot of blame

He's not getting out of prison so I'm not sure why he's bothering to appeal anything. His reputation and career are done, and his sentence is long enough that he'll likely die there. What's the point of re-trial? I feel like it will retraumatize the victims, who may have already had their peace with the knowledge that their story is out and he's locked up. I suppose I could be the outlier in thinking this way and those victims would prefer to go through the trial again and make sure they get their own version of justice. I'm just the sort who would find it crippling to go through all that so many times.
